New POOL HALL : Pasadena,California

Yesterday I had some time to kill before I had to drive down to LAX. Even though it's not exactly "on the way" from where I live to the airport, I decided I'd check out the shop. I had been wanting to go ever since I initially read this thread.

Corey is really nice and helpful with any questions you might have. I even got to play some 10-ball with him. Or should I say, got familiar with the slug doctor rack and watched him run out after I missed a shot.

He wasn't lying about torturing players with those tight pockets, more so for a newbie like myself. But then again, on some of my shots that I missed, bucket-sized pockets wouldn't have helped either haha.

This was my first time watching a pro up close and in person. It was impressive watching him hit center pocket on most of his shots and seeing how the cue ball is supposed to be played with proper position.

I walked out with Mosconi's little red book and will be ordering my Pechauer sneaky pete from him in the next few months. His prices are very competitive and I'd much rather support a local business (and player) than a big website.

Congrats Corey! I love Pasadena, I went to school there, Art Center. I am moving back to Cali in the fall and had planned to zero in on that area when I look for an apartment. Good to know there are some places to play and where I can take my cue for tips and repairs!

Does anyone know if there is an active APA league or some other league in the area?

You are no doubt uber-talented - the Art Center is THE spot!

Glad to see talented folk coming back to town!

Re: APA, yesindeed: http://www.onthesnap.com/. The divisions in the Pasadena area are growing rapidly!

Thank for visiting and the kind words!

Let me know if you have any questions on that reading material. That book "Willie Mosconi on Pocket Billiards" is the best introductory book out there!

Thanks Corey and Guapo! I could not find any info on the APA main site. If you here of any good apartment/small house rentals let me know! I am a great tenant!

Corey-
Here is wishing the best with your new venture.
Hope things work out well and I'll stop by next time I am near LA.

You are an asset to the world of pool.

Mark griffin
