Well, not exactly about pool, but the lead character is a professional pool player. It's called "'Go for Zucker," and is a comedy art film in limited release. It got a rave review in "The New Yorker," and sounds like a hoot. Once scene evidently features the lead character so frustrated at having to miss a pool tournament to attend a funeral that he has a heart attack.

It would be great if someone could see it and post a report.

An enjoyable movie.
He is a pool hustler in the process of losing everything - wife, money, good looks (gets beaten up) then his mother dies who turns out to have had money, but in order to collect has to reconcile with his estranged orthodox Jewish brother who comes to stay with his family for the funeral of their mother. He has to 'become' Jewish as the local Rabbi is the excutor of the will.
All this while the biggest tournament of his life is happening, as he can't leave the house (to comply with the terms of the will) at one stage he fiegns a heart attack and his friends come to take him away in an abulance so he can get to his match on time.

Found a NY Times review, but I think it has come and gone already. Looks hilarious, but I'm twisted. I thought "The King of Comedy" was funny, too. Be looking for the DVD or revival showing
