I heard thru the poolplayer's grapevine that a NEW Poolroom has opened in or around Peabody on Rte 1.Now that "World Class" has closed, this would be great news for the area but I've searched online and can't seem to find any information to confirm this rumor. Does anyone have a name, address ,phone #,website...or any information on this? Thanks for your help...

This link was the last I heard of a new place in Danvers. I reposted in November asking for information but received no response.

I also heard that the equipment from World Class has been purchased by someone and would appear in a new pool room. But I have not seen or heard anything more.

I no longer live in the Boston area. So I have not been as determined to follow up.

Whoever bought the World Class tables, I hope they fix them up before re-using them, they need some work. The rails on every table I tried there needed replacement. There is a new place in Malden, MA with 3C tables called Amazin Billiards, they also have some regular pool tables.

Nobody out there?

Is there anyone out there that lives in the area that can shed any light on this? The North Shore used to be loaded with pool players...??? Am I that old?? Have things changed that much in 25 years??

A place in Danvers was going to be opening, but as of a few weeks ago there was no financing for it. I have a PM from a friend of whoever was going to open the place about it.

Any Massachusetts players out there?

Bumping for some info....,

Hey guys I posted months ago about the poolroom in Danvers. My friend (who plays on my pool team) was planning on opening up the poolhall in Danvers. He and his partner got screwed over by the bank. They got approved for a loan and then a few weeks later the bank lowered the amount they would loan them. My friend tells me he and his partner didn't give up on plans for the poolhall but would just delay it a few months. Since World Class Billiards has closed a new pool room in Malden has opened up. It's owned by none other than Mazin Shooni. It's called Amazin Billiards, located on Faulkner Street. Great place and GREAT tables.

Thanks for the update..

Thank you Mr. Soto, please keep us updated as your friend gets closer to his opening date and location. As you can see by the number of views of this thread, there is definitely some INTEREST out there!

Ditto the praise for Mazin's new room. I went there Saturday for the first time, and it was like a reunion of different players from World Class, Brighton Billiards and other now closed rooms. Fantastic equipment! Plenty of room around eight pool tables (six of the latest Brunswicks and two tight-pocketed ??? also brand new that were covered due to the 3-cushion tournament). Oh yeah, four heated billiard tables of course. I'll be be headed down again soon. If I understand correctly they have a "daily special" until five PM or so (even on weekends), for $10, or you can play for $5/hour. In other words, not bad for table time.

See you there!

I was told there was a monthly membership fee for Amazin, is that true? If not I may take a drive there with my son to take a look at it some weekend.

This was my first time there -- it is about an hour and twenty ride for me, but I expect to start making the trip when I have time. I don't know if there are monthly membership options or what; I only know what I was told that day ($5/hr or flat rate of $10 during the day up to 5 iirc).

Really super nice equipment and plenty of room and light throughout the room.

This is the 3-cushion end of Mazin's new room in Malden -- behind me when I took this photo are eight brand new pool tables. Hardwood floors and lots of windows, but the windows all had very effective translucent shades, so all you get from them is nice soft general light.

Thanks for posting the information on Amazin Billiards. I would expect that anything associated with Mazin Shooni will be first rate. I hope that some of the old World Class crowd decides to congregate here. Those were good times.

Son of gun! I know that building, I shot video in there. It use to be a guys office/storage for store fixtures and he kept 1 Gold Crown in there. I remember walking around there thinking what a gr8 place this would be for a pool room. 2nd floor right? There are about 5 or 6 other smaller rooms around to the right that could hold 1 table each, thought those would be good for private parties. Congrats to Mazin for a great find :)
