New Pool Table Owner with Questions

I just purchased a used 8 foot Olhausen table. It is being moved and refelted this Saturday. Some of the pockets are worn and I was thinking of getting them replaced. Do these need to be replaced while the table is apart or can these be replaced once it is assembled? I have found some RC Designs pockets I like, but I'm not sure if they will fit my table and if they are good quality or not. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. I just want to try and do this right the first time and be able to enjoy the table. Thanks for the help!
 
Replace them while the table is being refelted/reassembled. Otherwise the table has to come apart again to replace them.

Worse case scenario, they don't fit or are not to your liking and you can put the old ones back on and not have to pay to have them changed.
 
I agree with this assessment too. Call your 'installer' and ask them about the pockets you propose to use. They should know if they'll "fit" or not. Keep in mind that you're probably considering spending several hundred dollars for all six RC pockets (which are very nice, quality, btw), when it's very likely not necessary...ino, you're doing it just because the pocket 'looks' worn...or you want something that looks 'prettier'. In all likelihood, the table should play fine with the existing pockets. If you want to be a player, rather than just have a table that "looks cool", stick with the pockets that came with the table (and spend the extra $$$ on some lessons). If you're trying to make a fashion statement, than go for the RC pockets...but they won't make the table play any better. jmo

Well, I agree about spending $$$ on the pockets. We found a place locally that we can get RC pockets much cheaper and that is the only reason we were looking to use them. Honestly, the pockets looking worn would not be a big deal except the table will be in a main area of the house that everyone will walk by and see when they come in the front door. Also, we enjoy having friends over to hang out and expect this table to be a central area when we have guests over. They have all assured us they will be over this weekend to help us improve our pool skills. Given this we decided we would like to have everything in nice condition as the table will be a nice looking piece of furniture as it will be for playing. Given its dual purpose we just want it to look nice as well.

We do appreciate all the info and help. I am sure we will be on here asking for tips and advice to improve our game.
