Built in extension on classy plane janes with nice ring work. You'll make cash hand over fist. Just make sure you use a standard easy to find joint so aftermarket shaft guys can be happy and your solid

In addition to my last post why not make a old school meets new school with a classy plane jane with nice ring work. High growth ring shaft 13mm and make it 57 inches like older cues used to be

Thing is that Viking has been a pioneer for 50 years. They came out with some fantastic cues over that time span and introduced a lot of methods that were adopted by other cue makers.

Some of the designs that some people find ugly would be praised if they had a "big name high end" cue maker name on them in my opinion.

There is an ass for every seat as the saying goes. It's important to remember that the pool world is MUCH bigger than AZB. AZB has a lot of readers for sure, I meet tons of them out there. But there are millions more people who play pool and buy cues who don't read or care about online newsgroups. AZB's membership stands at what 40,000ish with most of the accounts probably inactive. One newsletter I know of for a online retailer goes out to 100,000+ subscribers every month. They can introduce a cue with sugar skulls on it and sell 100 in an hour.

The trend here is to go conservative with old school designs from the 60s. The cues that are selling in the larger market however are cues that are edgy and "cool".
 
no mother of pearl, its tacky. unless used very sparingly, Very sparingly. simple, four, 6, 8 point designs. nothing that shines except the finish. simple wrapless, with some nice rings. let the wood do the work. basically, do the exact opposite of what viking is doing. keep the joint diameter standard, and get rid of the quick release pin and use radial or 3/8x10. keep prices low, ill never pay more than $400 for a production cue, and neither will anyone else, bc they will put an LD shaft which will add another $200 plus to the price.
that is your introduction line, don't sway to far off that going forwards, keep simple inlays in butt.
 
A friend of mine has a Predator that has a 'twist and release' extension built into the butt of it. It's roughly a four inch extension. The cue still has perfect balance and a remarkable hit. I'd like to see more cues available with this for folks like myself with back and neck issues.

Aside from that, better balance. Most inexpensive to mid-range production cues have little to no balance. Also, leave off the graphic overlays. Focus more on using better woods.

This is the basic cue we are doing with nice wood components.
