I see lots of great reviews about schmelke cues so I decide to buy one. I received it Monday and have been shooting with it constantly. It hits great! I talked to Dave about making the cue they way I'd like it to be and he did exactly that. Shipped to my door for 280$. Can't beat it!

I've seen, (or read), some folks who know a lot, think that anything as inexpensive as a Schmelke, is not a custom cue. These fools still don't realize how far off base they are. Sssh, don't tell them any differently !!! LOL

This is how I order cues from them. Seems like some "custom cue" options to me......

Great looking cue. What shaft and pin did you go with?

Went with the #4 joint. 3/8 pin wood to wood joint. Standard maple shaft, pro taper, and 12.75 Kamui soft tip. The forearm and butt is cocobola. Very firm hit, actually makes a unique sound, hard to describe. I normally shoot with a players hxt. It's a good cue as well but the schmelke is much better.

A nice custom SCHMELKE cue for Mike!

Mike
Congratulations on your new cue. That is a nice piece of wood; at first I thought it was bocote.
I had read a poster's comment that SCHMELKE "is not a custom cue maker".
Well, you certainly have a custom cue. And a nice one too.

Dave
PS A thanks to Chuck Fields for presenting a "worksheet" of his cue order to Schmelke. I will use that method the next time, knowing that it works.

The shaft is very clear., no knots or anything like that. The handle, I'd say is a medium.?not really sure how to size that. The joint diameter is .840.

David will make handle any size(within limits) you want. Standard is usually between 1.23&1.25". I ordered my sneaky to be no bigger than 1.22" and it came out real nice.

I was wrong:
Since I ordered the shaft turned down .. it's going to be a bit longer - oh well ... at least the new Katana shaft came in.

I'd never heard of Schmelke before coming here but seeing these pics the last few days has me rethinking my next cue.

Schmelke seems to be a very good entry level cue for those who:
1. Don't wish to spend a lot of money on their first cue.
and
2. Want some custom features.

The positive feedback led me to order one about a month ago.
I made the mistake of not ordering a second shaft when I first ordered the cue.
David Schmelke wanted the butt back so Schmelke could match the second shaft.
The butt arrived back at Schmelke last Friday so I have some more waiting.

I had heard the name before - but didn't think it was a real thing. (until I got to AZB)

I can see the confusion, in most places if you say "let me take out my Schmelke and show it to you", you would get smacked :D
