New Simonis Cloth only for Cushions

the thing about having spin still on the ball after 3 rails, sure the cloth is a factor, but so is the balls condition and how well you stroke.

if you want all matching color you should just get royal pro, all synthetic always the same playing condition

Yes, I agree that there are other factors regarding ball spin off the 3rd cushion; however, in my case, I like the superior playing quality of the Simonis 300 Rapide on the bed compared to the Royal Pro on the bed… and putting the Simonis Precishot on the cushions gives me the best of both worlds (Royal Pro vs Simonis). For me, I prefer quality of play over a slight color difference.

can you describe for us how simonis bed cloth is superior playing over royal pro?

As the balls move during play, the Simonis bed cloth is quieter than the Royal Pro.

Also, over time, after low power vacuuming and damp micro fiber cloth wiping, for both the Simonis and Royal Pro, the Simonis bed cloth looks better.

The advantage of Royal Pro over Simonis: it plays better under humid conditions… even with a heated table.

Good point, Bob, regarding my comment about the Royal Pro playing “better” than the Simonis cloth under humid conditions.

I was referring to what I noticed about less ball travel length on the Simonis, during play under humid conditions, presumably due to its 90% wool content causing it to retain more moisture than the Royal Pro and therefore slowing down the balls…given equal force/spin on the cue ball on both bed surfaces.

I don’t remember the effect on the “slide”. It’s been a long while since I’ve played on a Royal Pro cloth under humid conditions. I just remember that the balls on the Royal Pro surface went farther than on the Simonis when it was humid. Perhaps someone else here can comment on the “slide”.

Regarding the “slide” on the synthetic 100% nylon PreciShot rail cloth: the “slide” does not appreciably change during play. It remains consistent, if the balls are not “greased up”. That is why I only use the Aramith Ball Cleaner on my Aramith carom balls. It cleans and polishes the balls resulting in almost no change to the rail “slide” given equal cue ball stroke spin. THAT is why I will continue using the Simonis PreciShot on my cushions.

When my carom balls were new I used only water and finger nails to clean the balls… then thoroughly buffed them with a terrycloth towel followed using those common, soft, brown, cotton/polyester work gloves… producing absolutely no change in ball “slide” off of the PreciShot cushions… given equal force cue ball spin.
