I could have started playing Carom Billiards 50 years ago and I sure wish I would have. If I would have known how much it would have improved my game I sure would have started playing it. I play it sometimes with a friend but not well. Some of the A and B players play it quite well. I'm amazed at some of the shots they make.

Wonderful game, I agree. Perhaps you are not as far behind as you think- coming to the game knowing ball travel paths and effective stroke techniques are huge shortcuts to learning how to play a new billiard game.

Besides, who has learned everything? No matter how well one plays, he is still trying to play better.

Better late than never. welcome to the game.

I found Accu-stats coverage of the Sang Lee matches helpful with learning much of the language and inspiring some of my practice. Bob Byrne explains many of the fundamental shots in simple terms. Another important decision for me was to take lessons with an accomplished player. I've never enjoyed practice drills with pocket billiards yet my game is OK. But in 3C, repetition of certain shots...short angles, cross tables... has been invaluable to me. Those fundamentals are the only edge I feel I have as a young 3C player.

Best of luck
