New to the game

Hello everyone,

I am new to 14.1 and was looking for some advice to help my game. Living in England I have been playing 8/9 ball the majority of the time i get to play on American pool tables as they are to us and i hit something of a wall when running 10+ balls in 14.1, I seem to lose concetration and get carried away with the potential run I could create and thus end up missing an easy shot. Do you guys have any tips/ techniques for not getting too far ahead of yourselves?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

AJ

I know that it is hard to do, but try not to think of the numbet of balls you have run. Think of the shot at hand and your position for your next shot, keeping in mind the third potential ball you want to shoot. I don't know about you but this is enough information in my head to keep the little voices at bay. At least for a while. . .

AJ,

I had the same problem when I first started playing again. The math would start getting in the way of my game, "I only need two for thirty" and so on. Oddly, what helped me get past that was video taping my practice sessions. Granted, this may sound strange, but knowing that the camera was catching whatever run I had going let me concentrate on the table. I started putting up better runs and found myself less focused on the ball count and more focused on my next shot.

Now, I really don't have an issue with that any more. Sure, I still think about it, but it doesn't interfere with my concentration like it used to.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
Scott
