Hi, My name is Dave Hlad. I am a newbee cue maker out of Orlando Fl. I wanted to post some pics of my first attempt at Mitred veneer windows. Now that I figured out how to post pictures.

I like it alot. Very nice work. Inly thing i dont like is the red wrap but thats just a personal opinion. Overall the points and the windows are very nice!!

Nice work. A little gap in the miter but a heck of a first one I think.

Not too crazy about the butt sleeve above the windows. It kind of moves the wrap up too far, disturbs the proportions, and looks a bit out of place. The red wrap is a little overwhelming. Big points for being different on many aspects though.

What really drew my attention is the ringwork in the butt cap. And I like that. Very interesting design feature.

I'm not too far from you, Palm Coast. Maybe I will meet you at some point. I have been looking for cue people since I moved here. Tried to hook up with Shawn Brady but he had moved his shop by the time I got there. I was a little miffed that it didn't say so on his web site and he never responded to any of my emails so I didn't know he left that location.

Sweeeet! I love all the contrast. It's a little busy on the butt, but it gets your attention like a hammer to the forehead. One of these days I'll get around to playing with veneers. For now, I'm playing with my pantograph.

Thanks everyone. The but is a little loud. I was having trouble thinking up a design. Hope everyone had good holidays.

Just food for thought; maybe you could repeat that work, but put them in two different cues. The stripes are awesome by themselves, as are the veneered squares. Separately, they can stand on their own without looking too busy. That's my not-always-artistic point of view.

I am nowhere near being a cuemaker, but I love cues. And I really like this cue. I do agree it could be toned down a bit, but the work looks very good to me. Congratulations on a very fine accomplishment. Please post more of your work as you finish some! Thanks a bunch for sharing.

great start. As others have said, the butt is a little busy and the wrap looks like it is starting too far up. For a first cue though, looks fantastic.

Couple of finer points while I am looking at this again, your butt sleeve veneers/rings/inlays don't line up. One of those things to look at when you are gluing them up. People will look for that.

I can't tell from your pics if the butt sleeve work lined up with the work further up, the points and other ring work in the forearm, but would would want to make an effort to make all of it line up.

Simpler, but with the details and proportions done right would be my next goal.

Again, well done. Please show us further work as you go on....if we go too long without cool cue pics we get a little buggy...... :o

Thanks Chopdoc. I have been working on getting the rings to line up perfect. If your ever in the Orlando area send me a PM.
