Spheres Make Me Happy
Hey Fellow Az'ers,

After some time viewing your threads as a ghost I finally decided to take the plunge and sign up. The site is really comprehensive and has up-to-date tournament results and I especially like the forums. Hence, here I am. I am from Montreal, Quebec and I have a few favourite haunts: Unison, Istori, Jilly's, and now Triplex (Black Crowns with new cloth). I play with a Falcon j/b with a hard Talisman tip, and my playing cue is a Dale Perry plain jane that I got off ebay with radial pin and I recently got a tiger x shaft for it. I liked the way the tiger played compared to the predator. It didn't have that weird internal bore bit in the front (felt more solid). The shaft plays really well and I was getting used to it (had it for about a month now) but on Saturday the tip just popped off. It kinda freaked me out. I called Tiger up and they said I could either send it to them (at my expense) and they could put the tip back on or I could take it to my cue repairman and have him do it because it wasn't covered by warranty. I told the guy that if something as simple as a tip can't stay on right what's holding the rest of the cue together? He gave me the spiel about how their tip glue is sold to other cuemakers and their cue manufacturing process is better than any other competing shaft. So anyway, I'm going down to Palason today to get it fixed and thinking I should have gone with the OB-1. I don't know. I'm just kind of confused and annoyed. I thought that the new adhesives could bond a ferrule to a tip super well and once it was on it was there for life. Maybe Tiger just didn't put enough? I've just never had a tip come off in 16 years of playing let alone on a new shaft. I hope I'm not being anal about this. Has this happened to anybody else? Je ne comprend pas. In any case, when I go to shoot pool I play by myself so if anyone wants to play in la belle ville de Montreal give me a shout. I don't gamble or play for money though. I have no idea what my speed is. I just love to play. I take the big blue limousine and the underground snake to get around though so it would probably have to be on island. Well, I got through my first post. I hope she makes sense. I look forward to your insight.

Going to Palason,

Pistol Pete

Well this looks like as good a place as any. Hope you don't mind if I join you since I am a newbie as well.

Might as well intorduce myself as well.

I currently live in the southeast kansas area while I am attending school and I try to play any chance I get. It gets a little difficult with class work and everything else going on since I am working on my masters and teaching classes as well.

I have been playing for about 15 years now and grew up playing at shooters billiards in olathe,ks for quite some time. Cy current haunt is OK bar and billiards in joplin missouri sinceit is the closest place that has full size tables of any speakable quality.

I have been lurking on here for about 2 months now and I apreciate all of the info and advice available on the forum and I hope to make use of some of it in my regular game play.

I am also trying to ID a table in the table mechanics section so if any of you have knowledge of older tables please check it out and take a look.

Thanks
Rick

Hi Squigy, Welcome to the board, I hope you enjoy your time here. It's always nice to see another Canuck here.

As for the tip on your cue, it happens. For the $10-15 it costs to get fixed locally I wouldn't bother to ship it back to the company.

A tip on posting..... thy paragraph breaks, it makes the reading easier :D

Paragraph Breaks

Dear SuperGreenMan,

Thanks for the advice. I shall use it wisely. Am I to surmise from your avatar that you're a left-winger/liberal living in Alberta? That must be tough.
I lived in Calgary for a year. Pretty nice city. Buses never ran on time and I hated the chinooks. - 7 C one day and 25 C the next? Gave me massive headaches. I prefer Montreal a lot more though. Never been to Edmonton. I heard it was Calgary's cleaner, less white bread brother.

Off To Catch My Bus,

Pistol Pete

LOL.. I always assumed his avatar and screen name just meant he smoked alot of weed. How did you come to the liberal conclusion on that squigey?

By the way welcome to the board both you and Rocketman!

As well what's with the 2 names? Pistol Pete, and Squigy?

DJ

lol, I'd prefer not to be called a liberal or a conservative, and don't come near me with that liberaterian term either.

The av has more to do with my spirituality and love of nature than anything (and no not just when I'm smoking pot)

Greenmen can be found all over the world, but mostly in older buildings and churches in Europe. It's a pagan thing I guess, the greenman is supposed to be the protector of the forest and symbolize natures resiliancy.

Bonjour to squig, and howdy to rocketman !

Pistol Pete Maravich is one of my all time favorites ! Of course I am assuming that he was the inspiration for your signoff. If not, then quit using it ;)

Dear supergreenman,

Ah, I see. I'm into politics so I was kind of curious what the green dude was for.

To Everyone else,

SquigyMcFlerpen is a name I made up that I thought sounded cool. Pistol Pete is my nickname. I'll get my profile up and running soon and all shall be made clear. Maybe even choose a nice avatar.

Dear Peoples,

Went to Palason. Had a new Talisman that I bought from Seyberts a while back put on. Tiger X shaft up and running again. Yippee !!

Was going to pick up the new Billiards Digest when I got there but they stopped carrying it. Might have to get a subscription.

Yesterday was really freakin' rainy and I felt like a wet dog the whole day. Went to Unison and shot pool for a few hours. Kinda sucked but I made a few cool shots and had fun.

Laters,

Pistol Pete

squigs, rainy and cold in the great white north?....no way!:D
