I would want that cloth replaced, something doesn't look right about it besides the blemish. What brand is it.? You might be able to shave it with a new razor blade and a light touch.

That’s the way somonis looks these days.. not sure whats going on but when I get my table Recovered I won’t be using it.

That is more than just an imperfection in your cloth and newly installed Simonis would not have an imperfection such as that. If it had that on it when installed, I would request a replacement piece, although even if whoever you purchased the cloth from might provide a replacement piece, I doubt the installer would provide the installation labor for free. I would assume you did or should have thoroughly inspected the cloth as soon as the cloth replacement job was completed, at which time, if this was noticed, you should have brought it to their attention.

As far as trying to repair a spot like this which I consider as a nick in the cloth most likely caused by an improperly shaped cue tip edge digging into the cloth, I can tell you what I do here on our tables.

You must be extremely careful, but if you take a brand new razor blade and very carefully hold it nearly flat on the cloth and extremely carefully holding it with your thumb tips and index finger tips of both fingers run it over that nick at different angles, it can greatly reduce the amount of cloth sticking up and reduce the amount of potential roll off of a ball rolling slow slowly over that spot. As I say, this must be done with extreme care, and only once you have confirmed that you are not likely to be able to get this cloth replaced as defective.

Looks like you might have some bad cloth. Simonis had some issues after a flood at their factory. I had it happen to me, here is one of the threads on the fuzz.

Also in that thread, I have a better alternative than a razor blade.

Yes, there are safer alternatives, such as good quality fingernail clippers or an electric razor.

it was like this after set-up or it happened during play? if the former you should have seen it and told installer. if the latter that's on you. i've seen people fix these slight tears/cuts with a tiny dab of super glue and tap it down lightly with a ball. if it was like that before playing on it talk to installer and the cloth maker. its also possible the installer accidentally nicked it and if that's the case that's on him.
