Hello AZ, McDermott has begun to make cues with V-Spliced forearms again. To my knowledge this is the first cue Mcdermott has made since the D-series with V-Spliced points, except for the cues made from Old stock.

I think after talking with my McDermott Represenative I do not think this will be the last cue made this way either. These cues are produced in the good old USA at the Mcdermott Factory, pictures to follow:

Enjoy

How cool is that? My very first cue was a Mcdermott. If I was going to play with a production cue I think Mcdermott would be my first choice. Are the points holly wood?

For the attention to detail, quality materials, and the warranty McDermott cues are the best buy on the market for a production cue.

Here is a link to the above cue, thanks for the interest: http://www.shopmcdermottcue.com/McDermott/0707.html

Have a good day!!!!!

Manwon,
I also thought that the cue was spliced. But, it really isn't. It is a inlayed cue to look like it was spliced. They haven't made a spliced cue for a long time now. You will start to see some as they finish the old stock for Bill at Cornerstone.

Are you sure about that?
My contacts tell me McDermott does not have any equipment to make V-spliced forearms.
I was looking as some last night and was told by a guy that knows McDermott very well they were made in China.
Not knocking the cue as it is nice to see spliced and veneered points from them again and the quality is up to McDermott standards. I have owned McDermott cues off and on since the late 70's and have a nice D-15 now.

The ones I looked at last night were spliced.
you could see the lines in the veneering and no way can a CNC cut sharp points like a V-splice.

I agree that it looks perfect. But, I am willing to wager all my v-cash to say that it is a inlayed point.:)
Take Care

Hey Sheldon did you hear that?

I doubt he heard that, but he might have read it.

Perhaps to the untrained eye a rounded point might look like it is sharp but I would expect anyone that uses a CNC machine to be able to see the difference between V-spliced and CNC cut points.

Perhaps it was V-spliced veneers with a center inlay.
Regardless, the cues I examined did look nice.

Willeecue, I stand corrected, I just got off the phone with good friend at McDermott, and McDermott did recieve the forearms from China pre-made. The cues however, were assembled by McDermott in the USA. Thank you very much for your input and your correction, and also like you said the points are spliced not inlayed.

They are really nice looking cues and are up to McDermott quality.
I would not think twice about buying one if I was in the market.
McDermott changed hands from its original owner but as I understand it there are many of the original cue craftsman still there making the cues.
McDermott has a good track record of service.

I wish more cues (production or otherwise) would go back to the v-groove points. Most cues today are overly CNC'd. I hate the big radius points and inlays.
