Before we dismiss the abilities of women straight pool players like this, I suggest we take a slightly closer look..
I am not dismissing women's ability. I just don't think it is fair to the other women to put Loree Jon in the box in this match. She is currently ranked 62 on the WPBA Tour. Why not put someone in that attracts more media attention and is a better player?

Me and the many others that attended the many Women's 14.1 championships in the olden days will recall that the standard match length for a women's straight pool match was 75 points, and that only the final was played to 100. Hence, in competition, it was extremely rare that a woman was afforded a chance to run over 75 balls. There were few women's straight pool events, too. ..
So what, the men only went to 150...
Mike Eufemia ran how many?
Willie Mosconi ran 526,
Thorsten Hohman ran ?
Ralf Soquet ran how many?
Tony Robles ran how many?
Ginky ran how many?
Steve Lipsky ran how many?
Danny Barouty ran how many?...
The list goes on and on.
How many women have run over a hundred balls? Two?

Speaking from my own experiece alone, Jeanette Lee ran 152 against me and also ran a 124 against Mika Immonen in my presence. In the 1999 Straight Pool Championhips event held at the Amsterdam Billiard club, Lee finished ninth in an elite field of men, and her victims list included Dallas West, Jim Fusco and Johnny Ervolino...
I was there too. Jeanette Lee's presence at the table is different than Loree Jons, which is who we are talking about. I think if Jeanette Lee were to play Sigel, that would be great for the game. Jeanette has probably brought more spotlight on pool than any other player in history.

Obviously, no woman ever played straight pool like the most elite men, but I feel you've posted a statistic that is misleading with regard to the relative proficiency of the top women and the top men in straight pool.
Really,,,there are hundreds of men, if not thousands that can run 100 balls. How many women can run 30?
I am not being a chauvanist here, just a realist.
