Nice Caudron solution from Mexico 2007

I just watched some youtube videos from the 2007 Mexico world cup. One of the is a casual game with Caudron that's fun because he's free-stroking quickly with no pressure.

Here's a CueTable diagram of Caudron's position at 0:45 in the game:

See if you can spot his solution if you haven't already seen it. His choice is on the 2nd page of the diagram.

Looks like the only shot on the table and the nuts.
I shoot it like that everyday.

Hi Robert:

Do you think the shot is similar to the first 2 shots in this video?

Also, I have added your post here:

Yes, the ideas are the same. The only difference really is that my diagram is from an actual game position, whereas those two in Caudron's video are specific setups for exhibition purposes (and shot from nice camera angles to catch the curves beautifully).

I like the fact that he plays them in actual matches! For example, here's the same idea from a game with Blomdahl, only using the opposite spin. This time, he was down 1-2 in sets and uncorked this out shot to tie it 2-2:

Yet another brilliant Caudron "hanger"

To give you an idea of the pressure Blomdahl was putting on, Caudron broke with a 7 the previous set, and Blomdahl answered with an 8. :) CaromTV is about to re-release this one with their VOD service (CC201-11) and it's definitely worth picking up.

I love the cross table shots. You can make shots in impossibe positions, but they're so touchy, a quarter of a tip or less on a shot and you're not even close. To me, it's like a 'technician' shot. Separates the men from the boys. I'm still in the boy camp, unfortunately, but every so often I'll nail a shot like that, and then I think, "Oh yeah, that's why I switched to Billiards"
