Nick Varner on TAR?

Get a couple of old timers we can learn stuff from in 1-pocket: Varner and Allen Hopkins (if he's still playing) would be a good one.

And, for what it's worth, I am not opposed to see Artie play just to watch him think (even though I don't think he can play at a top level anymore). We've seen enough of the run out version of 1-pocket, watching some of the old school thinking and playing would be a treat!

I'd love to see a couple of the legends playing an all around..
Nick
Buddy
Rempe
Billy I.

There are plenty more, but I'd love to see it!

Me too, I agree.

Would love to see McCready vs. Sigel and Nick play someone as well...really like the KOTH format!

Don't think JAM will let Keith out of the house to go to Vegas even for a free roll...Sorry Jennie, no ill will meant by that either!

Even Elvis is spotted every now and then...:D

Some of you guys obviously have never seen Nick play 1 pocket. While he can compete with the best of them at the game, it is almost painful to watch. Case in point....I watched him and Buddy play a 3 out of 5 match at the River City Open...THE FIRST DAY...they played 2 games.

Buddy commented during the second game.....'he has shot 37 consecutive safties.

The second day, sooner or later a ball would sneak out from the dozen or so balls on the head rail, and Buddy would bank it back. Buddy ended up winning the match, please correct me if I am wrong.

Now find an opponent Nick could play several games, 9 or 10 ball, straight pool, and a short race of one hole, and you might have a crowd pleaser.

Yep, Nick is a great player but will put even the most ardent fan to sleep with his deliberate play, gum chewing, and predilection for playing a "wedge" end game.

Hell, he'll get all 15 in a wedge, so maybe it's actually the opening :-o

Lou Figueroa
a "wedge" is getting all remaining balls
piled up around a far corner pocket

I was listening to I think Scot Frost and JoeyA discussing fouls. There was a match where both "owed" two. I had to laugh.

I heard a story about Nick that he "owed" 18....yes 18.

The rest of the story....he won that game.

Tell me that wasnt a long game.
