Nicked Super Aramith

A little nick has suddenly appeared on my 1yr old Super Aramith Pro TV-Cup 6 ball. I've attached a couple of pictures.

I don't know how this could have happened....I don't allow phenolic tips, the ball has never left the table and my 13 mph break shot probably couldn't do this. :grin:

It's very shallow but as you can see from the close-up, it looks like it's down into the matrix of the resin and not just superficial.

What are my options? I'm not sure trying to smooth it out wouldn't be worse that leaving it alone. Does anyone know if Aramith sells single ball replacements, and would I really even want that (matching weight, etc)?

Most likely it's from some metal protruding from one of the pockets such as nails that hold the pocket in.

Yeah, check all your pockets before you buy another ball.
.AND, YES, Arimith does sell single balls....try Muellers
 
I believe the single balls for that set are about $13 @. Before I bought another ball I would check good for any nails/screws in the pockets. Also, depending what brand table you have, if it has chrome covers on the corner and side pockets sometimes you can have a ball in the air going into a pocket and hit that chrome edge which can chip a ball. They are not that expensive to replace but why not look into any warranty's offered if any.
 
Good call guys! I had already looked at the pockets (it's a Ohlhausen with leather pockets) but because of your comments, I went back and checked more thoroughly. I found two pockets where there is something sharp on the underside of the slate where it hangs over the pocket.

I guess it's possible that a ball going hard into those pockets could bounce up and strike those spots or if there were other balls in the pocket they could raise up the 6 high enough to contact that area. I don't know if these are staples or what I've put some foam tape as padding on there until I can get in there and make a better fix.

As such, it's probably not something covered under warranty, if there even is such a thing (I sure couldn't find any reference to one).

I'll go the single replacement route and hope I get something close in weight.

I've got an olhausen and the exact same thing happened to the same set of balls. Super glue works pretty good on those spots but u need to make sure you even it out.
