Nickname for Cliff

Class act.......

Well, I gotta tell ya, i've played Cliff several times, and he has ALWAYS been a total class act. I have never had a problem with him.
Even after I beat him in the Banks division of the 1st DCC, and some fan ran down to say congrats to me and used a racial slur! I wouldn't have blamed him at all if he'd just knocked his ass out, (and i'm quite sure he coulda) but he did not.
If these things certain people are spreading about on here, are simply hearsay, then I think it's bullsh*t.
Oh, and give props where its due, Cliff is one of the greatest one-pocket players in the world. Stop knockin him.

oh.......

and every time i've played him, i've beaten him, except once. and i have ALWAYS been paid. never in question.
so please tell me, have you been stiffed by him before??? or have you just "heard stories"??? cause if you've just "heard stories", then keep them to yourself.
thats about the worst thing you can spread about a guy that makes his living matching up.

I did not know that. I had not seen Cliff play in a few years.

I still admire his gamble in that he always seem to give up weight; in fact, he has to give up weight in order to get played when it comes to one-pocket.

Thanks for the explanation!

That's of course Ricky Byrd standing between Cliff and the Quakester. Ricky owns Breakers Billiards in Mobile.

Cliff's "hitch" is not due to style or stroke preference. His shoulder has developed a malady from years of playing. He's okay when getting down on the shot and during the backswing. But just prior to his forward swing he has to lift up his torso a little to allow the head of his humerus to glide in its rotator cuff. He said it bothered him most during one-pocket, since there is less exercise to the shoulder joint.

I discussed it with him awhile back in Gulfport, and advised him to get some physical therapy. I considered offering treatment myself, but I was afraid he'd then put the bite on me, so I demurred.

However when I saw him recently over in Mobile, it looked as though the "hitch" was much less evident, and he was playing well; so I'm assuming he got some treatment.
