Hey out there in AZ land, has anyone played pool on a Nintendo Wii ? We got a second controller and it came with a game pack that includes 9-ball. Let me say that this is perhaps the coolest pool game ever. If you are not familiar with the Wii system, it's the one with wireless controllers that you swing/move/twist around to control the action. Golf is pretty cool too. Check this out if you get a chance.

Dave, who's got a better draw stroke with his Falcon than with a Wii controller, but is working on both now :D

I have a Wii, but not that game.

I should get it.... I'm picturing meself breaking a rack of balls, falling over the coffee table, and embedding the controller in the TV.

Hell the wife already cleared the coffee table, along with my laptop, while bowling.

2 drops of pee came out I was laughing so hard.;)

Here's a video of a homemade controller. Get ready for another hole in the TV, lol.

My daughter's new boyfriend does graphics for video games and said they were going to be doing some for the Wii and possibly another billiards game.

My son played today and got a platinum medal. He got out in 8 shots. It's one of my favorites for the Wii. My record is a gold medal. Now I gotta go beat his record!

ghost ball

p.s. I was one of those idiots who stood in line all night to get the Wii for my kid's X-mas present.

I've been playing for a few days now, and to me the action is quite realistic (for a slow table in a humid room, and I hate that btw) .... it made me wonder if they modeled it after the IPT-slow tables :D The cue ball will curve and bend just like real shots. So far I have played shape shots just like I would on a real table, with similar results. As an example, the old 'top-stop' shot when slamming a hanger works just like a real table.

More comments :
- it uses modified 9 ball rules ... no foul for no rail, and you must clear all balls, not just pocket the 9ball for a win

- the ghost-ball projection is very cool, complete with a ball-width track from the cue ball to the ghost-ball, this could be an excellent teaching aid imo. The ghost-ball also disapears once you get past the edge, which makes lining up ultra-fine cuts a bit easier :)

- my best is a 61 (?) ... cleared all 9 balls in 7 strokes with no fouls ... and I recieved a Platinum Medal for my efforts !

- you need a pretty good stroke to draw a full table length, just like in real life :(

I stay well away from my wife when she's playing tennis  . Pool is not so bad. I play pool sitting down, my stroke is more of a straight punch motion. The only problem is that Cuddles the cat always wants to site on my lap, and she gets in the way so the darned machine complains "Point the controller at the Wii"

Dave, may have to punch a hole in the cat to see the Wii some day  ;)
