Hello. Im in the market for a new custom cue. I am very interested in Chris Nitti cues. Since there are so many expert owners here, would there be anyone would would be able the tell me how they play? I hear they play good, but would anyone be able to tell me what they play like? I know obviously that this is all subjective, but I am very interested in his cues and would like and idea of how they play.

it's a real nitti gritti hitti  I have no Idea never shot with one but, could not help myself ...... NEED MORE COFFEE !!!

A little softer than SW. About like a piloted ivory jointed cue. Good value, clean work and Chris is a nice person to deal with. I have nice one w/3 shafts if you are interested. PM me.

I have two, one with a phenolic joint and one with ivory. Both great hitting cues--not super "hard". I think Nitti's are one of the few bargains left in custom cues.

Agreed. I recently decided that I'll be playing with Nitti and thassit. I love 'em! May even start collecting 'em...

I've got a bocote sneaky and my main player is a phenolic-collared 4 pt. cocobolo on bem. I'd say its a softer hit than SW, but its still really solid and consistent-feeling (I like his shaft taper a lot, and the stock seems pretty good)...but maybe tell us what you have played with so that we can compare it to that somehow?

If nothing else, the craftsmanship is exceptional and clean. And the radial pin design is my absolute favorite.

Great stuff at a pretty good price, too...

(I'll be picking up another fancier Nitti soon, hopefully :))

I,ve not had the opportunity to play with a Southwest but have played with many other well respected cuemakers work. IMO the Nitti I play with is the finest I have come across. I agree with everything Joaquin and others have offered here. Especially the comments on Chris's shafts. David

sure they are powerful. but you need a very very refine stroke to play with it. if you punch the shot, there goes your pot. deflects quite alot but if you are a refine player, that cue is the one

Not sure how true that is....
I don't sense any enormous amount of deflection in my Nitti. And its a 2002 -- and Chris is said to be getting only better every year....

Ock said he was using a 2000 Nitti with a $300 shaft of some kind?? ...and that I would just be better off with a South West lol...but it is my understanding that they have their fair share of deflection, as well?

...I'd take that post with a grain of salt. :o

Nitti will make the shaft any way that you want it with a new cue.

The standard shafts play about the same as a SW. Why? Because he uses an identical taper to SW and he only uses well aged rock maple shaft wood. It's prob older than what SW uses on new shafts (I know both makers well).

If you want a new Nitti now may be the time to give him a call (M - F 9am - 5 pm EST (407) 380-6121). I was at his house today & He has a lot of cues that will be finished by March and some are unsold. There will be some with him at the Valley Forge Expo in March also.

Identical taper to a SW, huh? No wonder....lol
Good to know.

Thanks again, Ruthless. :D

NP ;)

Here are a few raw forearms on the table there now.

Nice! :)

Nitti's are my favorite, by far. Clean, traditional (although those forearms look pretty snazzy!), and not waaaay out of my price range. Lol.

Can't wait to get my hands on an ebony 4 pointer one of these days. Thought I found the one I wanted, but it was just a bit too heavy (19.6oz -- and I need a 19.2oz)...and no weight bolt, of course.

::sigh::

Oh, well. Guess I'll call him up and see what can be done...

I think he has an unsold incomplete ebony 4 point now.

(someone say Nitti shafts? lol....he has a few hanging around ;))
