maybe you are right as my best nightcame in Aurora years ago, about 1983 or 84.
i was playing a guy on the BB 9 ball for $400 a game. He raised it to $800 and something happened I 'll never be able to explain. I won 17 straight games and honestly thought it was lkie 3-4-5 games. I ended up winning $19,000 and felt like I had won the world.
Everytime I watch the Hustler I am reminded of that night when Eddie says,"When I'm goin, I maean rally goin, you don't have to look, you just know"!
That has not happened recently or in many years. I think too much now>

I seem to recall a different line he said; something like, "that ever happen to you, fat man? when you know you're not gonna miss? This is my table, man, I own it!" (this was just before he went on a long run of winning)

One of the few times I've been in the zone, my opponent had to stop me as I reached for my break cue to prepare to break the next rack. He had to stop me to tell me it was over and that I had won. I had no idea what the score was, and that I had just run the last two racks to finish it.
Best feeling I've ever had................................however, I remember nothing about it or what I did.

Same here. When it happens, I remember the feeling of playing well but no details of the game/games I just played.

My zone lasts about 7-8 balls' worth in just about every 9 ball game I play. I might go back to just playing league and the occasional tournament and relegate myself back into the sphere of the Banger.

been there many times. such a wonderful feeling. best way i describe it to people that dont play pool is its like the scenes from the movie "Wanted" where the main character zooms in on something and even time seems to slow down but you see and notice everything with out really looking.

I love how my mind feels then, crystal clear and on target, totally absorbed into the game.

I agree. I like the affinity that I feel with the object ball. There is a certain closeness that I feel with the object ball when I am in the zone. When playing in the zone, the cue ball is my friend just there along for the ride, while the object ball, is my closest friend.

Funny, when I'm in the zone, someone asks me about a particular shot, and no way I could tell them how I hit it with regard to english/speed. Was in it not long ago. First 8 games, alternating breaks, the only shot my opponents got was the break....they came up dry and I ran out, while running out on my 4 breaks. Been a good while since I seen the "zone". Funny how when in the zone, not much thinking but a LOT of excecution happens.:smile:
