No "Internation Challenge of Champions" this year

Can anyone confirm this? I just heard that the 14.1 World Championship is no longer a World Championship because it lost the BCA (or some set of initials) sanctioning and is now just a normal tournament.

It HAD BEEN sanctioned by the WPA. You can see that by looking under 'players' then 'champions' then World Straight Pool. It shows the past 3 winners of the DP event in Jersey. However a look at the current WPA Calendar does not show this years SP tourny. Im not sure what gives at this point but it doesnt look great.

NYC CueDude, I certainly am grateful for what you did to restart 14.1 competition. I look forward to your posts, as they are often more "in the know" than the rest of ours.

But lately it does seem that you approach the forum with a little bit of a chip on your shoulder, and thereby diminish the goodwill that many of us naturally feel toward you. You could have responded to Terry, one of the nicest posters on here, in a much more respectful way. And on Monday you immediately assumed that my friend, custmqs, was attacking you when it was really quite obvious that he intended nothing of the kind.

I hope you accept this criticism in the spirit in which it is given. I, and I'm sure most others, are on your side and would like to remain there.
