No look spot shot

Awesome shot my man! Question - when prop betting this in the pool room what do you ask for in # of tries and what's your threshold for betting in # of tries?

Thanks. I haven't bet on it in a long time but I used to take as many as I could wheedle out of whoever wanted to bet something. I think the most I ever got was 50 ( and of course that was the most I ever bet as I remember, though I don't recall exactly how much ). The least I ever took was 5 ( for cheap ).

I tried it on my table this evening and made it the first try. Surprised myself.

Congrats. Illustrates my point, perfectly. This shot is MUCH easier than it appears to be, considering your mechanics and fundamentals are sound. And, it will make your friends insanely jealous.

Shot

The way I seen the guys doing this shot about a month ago at the pool room was much more difficult...
If the action stirs back up I’ll record it.

Such as... one handed, jacked up off the rail no-look? I'm interested to hear about it.

I'm old enough to be familiar with the spot shot...but I never tried your way.

...but at snooker, my basic warm up shot was the blue ball on the center spot..6x12...
...cue ball dead in on the balk line....I got pretty good at it.

So I bet a poker acquaintance one day that I could make it turning my head...just $10.
...I fired the cue ball and I heard the pocket leather get hit...
....but something seemed wrong...
...I looked around and the guy was holding the blue ball in his hand...
...the whole pool hall was laughing...:rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1:

I never tried it again, so I have no idea if I can do it.

Ok, this was requested so here it is. This is me, @ 90 mins or so ago, addressing a spot shot, turning my head, pulling the cue out, touching the floor, returning it to my bridge, then making the shot. This was the forth attempt. It's a 4 1/2 x 9 Gold Crown and I'm using a house cue ( my back has been really bad the last 5 days and this is the first time to the room since last Tues. I didn't expect to play at all so I didn't bring my cue, thus the house cue ).

Thanks for posting this, so I didn't have to! If you're a good player, there is a good chance you are going to be able to do this, even if lots of people don't believe it. I guess they never tried?

Thanks, SP.

The funny thing about the ones "Not believing it", was... I've made that shots hundreds of times over the years. The player who showed it to me made it as many times or more. And just the people he and I both showed it to, not to mention the player that showed it to the one who showed it to me... and on and on and on... so, first hand, I KNOW it's been made thousands of times. Thousands. And I also know I ain't anywhere near the best player who ever lived but I've made that shot on the first try many times. So if I can do that? It can't be that hard. That's why I always encourage people to try it. It's the kind of shot that makes you feel like you just bet a grand on a trifecta at Derby Lanes... and then hit it. It feels great. But it really ain't that difficult. It just SOUNDS like it. And, looks like it.

So you're welcome and thanks again.

Don't you hate people who queer your action like that? The only reason he grabbed it, it was headed dead center pocket! :D

I am only on a bar table but I wanted to see if I could. The first attempt I did peak briefly at the ball.

You're looking!!! Aw, hell, no! You're outta the player's union, jack!

( Nice... next time you're in the pool room, try it on a 9'. It's a bit tougher. 3 in row is pretty sporty, though, even on a bar box )

I've created a monster!

The nearest 9’ is 50 miles away. It’s a Diamond with Pro-cut pockets. I’m hoping to get out there this weekend. I don’t know if I will get to record my attempt but you bet I will be giving it a go. I doubt I will be as sporty then.

I watched it several times. Your mechanics are nearly perfect; very, very little movement whatsoever. Your chances making it on the Diamond are very good. As you'll see, it will merely feel different 'til you get used to it.

That’s the most meaningful compliment I’ve ever been given about my game. I really appreciate it.

Well, you're most welcome. Well deserved...

The most important facet of making this shot is keeping your entire body still except for your arm from the elbow down. That yours stays nearly perfectly motionless most likely accounts for your making it three times in a row the first time ( or somewhere close ) you attempted it. The odds on someone making it three times in a row the first time shooting it are pretty slim, even on a bar box.

Hey, wait a minute....finally! An aiming system I can understand! We can call this one TOC. Touch of crazy!

Matt - Make sure you let me know how it went on the 9' this weekend. If you make the first three in a row on *it*, we're getting you stuffed and mounted and put in the National Pocket Billiard Museum!

Will do. I tried it again from center table yesterday. Scratched (barely missed), made it, scratched (barely missed)

Your mechanics serve you well, Matt. I'm guessing you'll make more then a few on the Diamond.
