My point is that there are no listings on this forum for any mechanic in Pa. I'm in central Pa & the only guy I found out here did less than a perfect job on my table. so now I'd like to know who else is available but the only people listed here are 5 hours away (Ohio, Md. & Nj.) I can't believe that Pa doesn't have at least 5 pro table mechanics?Well PA ain't small. Table Mechanic in what area? Brian.
A good starting point is reaching out to neighboring pool halls to see who does their tables. Put an hour or so in on their tables to see how they play. What kind of table do you have?My point is that there are no listings on this forum for any mechanic in Pa. Five in PA...LOL! I think we have two top shelf mechanics in CA. A good pool table mechanic is not easy to come by
OK..... ONE? A state with 13 million people? I'll take ONE. They don't have to be "top shelf" Dominguez quality, but at least professional quality.A good starting point is reaching out to neighboring pool halls to see who does their tables. Like I said, ask your local rooms who they use. Just because there's not one listed here doesn't mean none exist. It's a resource, not an end all, be all table mechanic directory.OK..... ONE? I just paid a "mechanic" to set up my GC3, I can actually hear a ball roll over the slate seam. There is a 5/8 gap between my skirt boards & rails. I had him put new SuperSpeed on & it appears to me to be done correctly but I'm not a pro & don't really know if it's correct but based on the other things???
This thread/forum has been up for years & not one in all of Pa?
Thanks for your help, that's what I'll do.Like I said, ask your local rooms who they use. Just because there's not one listed here doesn't mean none exist. It's a resource, not an end all, be all table mechanic directory.
Thanks, man. There may be some folks that do good work but aren't tech savvy or on the internet. Thanks for your help, that's what I'll do.
I just can't understand why a pro table mechanic wouldn't post their service on here.
P.S. Your pool room is looks like the coolest place on earth![]()
There are a lot of installers but very few mechanics. Sounds like you had an installer set your table up. I checked the tables at our local pool rooms hoping to find a mechanic to set my table up, after seeing the quality of the work on those tables I didnt want them touching my table.OK..... ONE? You find great mechanics by their reputation, not by looking on a list of names! Any installers will gladly take your money, but check their reputation before you hire, AND ask for pictures of their actual work, not the standard pictures of tables full assembled, can't see their work like that!!!Thanks for your help, that's what I'll do.

Plural, evenA good starting point is reaching out to neighboring pool halls to see who does their tables.
The only pool out here is bar table 8 ball & not one person in a 30 mile radius has any idea about a ball contacting a rail after legal contact.... nobody.Had to chuckle.
OP says he is in central PA

Serious interest: are there any pool halls in PA outside Philadelphia?
I routinely travel across central PA between working in DC and home in upstate NY
Okay...how about calling pool halls in Philly or Pittsburgh? Mechanics have been know to drive a couple hours for work. Some travel even further.Had to chuckle.

I paid a hack, now I have to pay a mechanic to re-do it.....Pay a mechanic travel time if you have to. I did. It cost but that’s what it came to. I’d do it again. Most installers are hacks. Their best customers are bangers
There is no saving money. How about I looked at a Rasson. The dealer wanted $1500 to set up. 10 hours at $150. If they were a well known 1st class place I might have bought the table and paid their price. However I know the mech’s …I paid a hack, now I have to pay a mechanic to re-do it.....
I wonder has much I saved by doing it this way?
