Ebay has announced that effective Jan 1 2009, that ivory will be not be allowed on the site except for: Piano keys, and inlaid furniture made before 1900

They kill it, saw off the tusks and leave it. I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with the use of ivory. Elephant ivory is a one time deal. They do not regrow the tusks. Rhinos do at the rate of about 2 inches per year.
I would love real ivory on a cue stick that I own, but not at that expense.
