No new Cues Til Things Straighten Out

Fair price... If it's custom... Could anyone understand what goes into fabricating a cue. The cost of machines, supplies, overhead, wear & tear, cue makers talent. What is being sold is worth double at minimum. I do not know any "Well Off" cue makers. They do not retire early. Buyers...like what you see. Can afford it buy it.. But don't complain about the makers fee. Buy something you can afford.
The op is a tad dense. I keep him on Ignore but chek in to see if he's improved. No. Nothing is going to happen in the near future that is going to let him buy his dream cue for the price he envisions. He needs to wake up and join the real world.
I appreciate Garzar chiming in . I dont seek the approval of others otherwise it would be another boring post like the rest.

And I think this one is a winner. After all, I see joss cues for a grand. Custom merry widow for 3400. What a joke. Scruggs went from 1200 to 1800 to 3000 in months. The sellers arent wanting to sell at those prices so I'm not wanting to buy.
If you don't want to buy a cue, then don't. Why are you making yet another post about how cue prices are higher than you like?

Just don't buy, its very simple. The market is not going to change just because you don't agree.

I believe i said that. Thanks for agreeing

Im bored with this one boys. Signing off . I did especially like the one on full splice cues. I said they hit better than any cue.Everyone called me nasty names. This one never had any real traction. I apologize.

I'm not going to the kebab place for lunch.

"To put it in perspective the most expensive cue I sold was $80,000 "😲😲😲😲😲

what??????? So many questions, could you provide any details?
Black Boar

Had 2 buyers at the same number. Coincidently they both approached me about 2 months apart.

That’s all I can say

I’ve been buying as selling cues since 85 fwiw

The last year the cue biz has been very good for me. I’ve sold some very high $ cues. Some very low $ cues and everything in the middle. I haven’t tried very hard either. I get messages from people and they are buying and I’m buying as well. I’ve sold more $’s than I’ve spent recently. Of course that can change real fast

While I agree with your assessment of the economy, cues seem to be going the other direction.

It’s been my experience that the cue market has its own mind and isn’t linked to the overall economy. Pool is strong now, that’s driving sales. Again across all price points. To put it in perspective the most expensive cue I sold was $80,000 the least was $200. Most I spent was $6500.

So moving into this next year, I’m pretty confident in the cue biz.

This goes completely against what most are claiming right now. I have seen it said that the newer, younger players don't care about customs so much causing prices and sales to drop. Of course all the players that were young when TCOM was in theaters most likely have an empty nest and now have some disposable income to part with so they can finally buy that custom cue they always wanted. I just cant justify spending more than a couple thousand on a custom cue, $80K would buy me a used billet Hemi with a couple of turbos which I could put to good use, I guess I will be playing with a used Budweiser cue till my days end. 😂😂
I also don't think someone who spent $80K on a cue was saving up for it, my guess is that they have an abundance of disposable income and cue prices are the least of their concerns.

I was a kid when TCOM came out. In fact, I remember being with my dad AT the pool room, when a commercial for TCOM came over the t.v. Wow...time flies. My kid is out of the house now. I've retired once. And I like to buy cues.

You’re not looking in the right places. Bargains and treasures are out there.

Friend just picked up a Meucci and a Viking at a flea market - for $5 each.

Most of the cue guys I know and or do biz with are happy with the market. Even retailers who are big-well known names in pool are happy with sales.

The guy who bought the cue for 80 is mega mega rich. His house is around $30M-wow!

He’s sold 2 companies on the last 20 years and made around $350-$400 nnn after taxes I’d guess, he told me the exit numbers. His net worth is more i’m certain, smart self made biz man.

He didn’t notice the 80-he was just happy to get the cue, cues like that are hard to find even when your flush. I liked him which is why I chose him over the other buyer. I couldn’t charge more for the cue. And I’m not trying to retire selling cues, so I pick my spots.

I left the cue with him at his house. A day later his assistant called me for the bank info. Pretty strong. Considering I had only knew him for a couple weeks when we did the deal, I trusted him 100%.

His cue collection 😍 wow! Super nice guy, loves pool, in his 60’s. Good friend now. I can’t say his biz or other cues as I don’t want to put his biz in the street.

Great idea. The new JOSS cues are exceptionally high quality, have nice tapers, and play fantastic IMO.
Dave siltz says his joss color of money cue is hands down his best hitting cue. Of course he also says he doesn't use it.
