No Pants On The Ground - Love It

Just listened to Mark Griffin on the American Billiard Radio broadcast talking about his new pool room that will open in Vegas in a couple weeks.

First class place.

He said there will be some type of "dress code":

- No pants on the ground
- No caps on sideways
- No "wife beater" shirts
- No colors
- Etc.

He said there will be plenty of leagues. Wonder how all this "class" will affect the number of people that play league there. Some people refuse to "clean up" to go play pool. He said it isn't a "pool hall". It is a "nightclub with pool tables".

I have no problem with any "rules" he mentioned.

I will be sure to go to this place when I visit Vegas next. I was just in Vegas last week and was wishing it was open already.

I like playing in nice places with nice equipment.

It's tough to enforce a dress code in an action room....
....'cause sometimes you lose your shirt.

Sounds nice. I remember a similar place in Honolulu, HI, called "World Pool" I believe.
Was a night club with lots of pool tables. The clientele in general was dressed nicely.

I don't think it lasted very long (near Restaurant Row?)

Anyway, the concept is nice, but the issue I noticed was that nightclubs in general are
not conducive to keeping tables in (at least) decent condition.
This will definitely not be a player's room.

Just thought maybe you had been there, Hawaiian Eye.
You from O'ahu? I went to school there and vacation there very often...

If I'm wearing my Croc's, will I be allowed to wear my leopard thong...?

Maybe we should make a list for the next show....lol.

Good Luck Mark, I can't wait to check it out.

Is that the old Sharks?
Nightclub, when I think of Nightclub I think of a dance floor and loud music, sometime live entertainment.
Do you know if he's planning more of a classic 'Speakeasy" or what his hopes are as far as environment?

Boogeyman- It was called World Café - I know the place very well as I was a valet at Resturant Row. Here's a funny tid bit- I used to valet Rodney Morris's BMW M3 back in the day. Back then Resturant Row was Oahu's place to go for nightlife.

That was World Cafe. I know of the place, but never went there. I was on an about 10 year break from pool when that place opened and then closed.

The only place I go to, and only on Sundays, is Hawaiian Brian's.

According to Mark Griffin, his new pool hall will be the place to go to in Las Vegas. It will be classy, open 24 hours, and will have a 12-foot table for golf games as one of the main attractions. You need to listen to this week's ABR broadcast to get the whole story.

Mark Wilson or Griffin?

Rumor has it that we can all look forward to a US Open 1Pocket event at Griff's next year.

ye ha!

I don't really get "no sideways hats" and "no backpacks" but I do know that next time I'm in Vegas I'm using the toilet at Griff's.

At the now defunct Break, across the river, there used to be a sign on the front door that read:

"Pull your pants up. Nobody really wants to see your underwear."

Yeah, was covered in an earlier thread. Too bad imo.

MG has had a lung transplant and is sensitive to smoke. He has installed a new high capacity, high filtration HVAC. If it won't bother him, I doubt it's going to bother anyone else.
