No Pro Events in the West

Something like 80% of USA people live on east coast (to the west side of Mississippi and including Texas) and on the Pacific Coast.

So, there is not a great enough population density to run big Tournaments.
Distances are far driving up costs.
Huh? Your first sentence is kinda confusing. Are you saying that 80% of the population live on the two coasts? With the exception of large WestCoast cities almost all live in the eastern half of country. You may be saying that but its not clear for sure. https://www.mapbusinessonline.com/Map-Gallery.aspx/USA-Population-Density

Great map I'm not sure what he was saying either. The reason why those Reno tournaments were so sucessfull was that Reno is an easy city to fly into, hotel rates were/are extremely reasonable compared to Vegas and it is right next door to the San Francisco Bay Area which has a population of something like 6,000,000 people. I went to those Sands Regency twice a year events and they were always full of people unlike these big events these day where all you see are most empty seats with the televised events of late.

They were run well and paid well for the times. Players will go anywhere if these two things exist. There's nothing stopping Denver from having a big event. Just have to do it. Players will show if the $$'s right. Schedule it close to Griff's USOpen stuff and you'd probably get a good turn-out.

Daniel owner of POV Pool from SoCal came through NorCal for 2 years with his 'West Coast' swing WCS sanctioned events in summer of 2017-18' ? Started with the 'Cole Dickson' Memorial @ Family Billiards in SF, and onto California Billiards in Fremont. finishing @ Freezers Ice House in Az.

I spent the weekend @ the huge Calif Billiards which is about 30 minutes from where I live both years it was held. Only time I ever got to get close up to watch top Pro's like SVB, Shaw, Both Dennis and Pop's Orcollo, The 'Lion, Chohan and more. Also had some Builders there like Cohen, Carmelli and Kent Davis chatting it up with some real nice stuff to buy or check out. I was bummed. It was a real treat then poof dissapeared. Possible that annual Cole Dickson Memorial is still being held @ Family Billiards in SF if it's still in business. I have not been into SF with UCSF exception for years even though its close.

At the moment I am spacing on name of who was actually running event real time with sheets and table asignments but he knew whet he was doing....

SRO 1985. Cool stuff. Bunch of no-names. ;) Check out the players list. Pretty strong. http://www.sfbilliards.com/accustats/V1_N10.pdf
Great list of names, now everyone can see how great those Reno events were.

Here is a story that some people will enjoy, I remember Efren walking down the stairs from the mezzanine level when Bucktooth sensed this was his chance to put on his show. He started woofing Efren as they walked down the stairs offering him some wild game. Efren just smiled and let Bucktooth continue his act knowing what he was up to. In no time that stairwell was packed with people clamoring to watch the show, you would have thought Elvis just made an appearance. Bucktooth really put on a show, Fats could not have done better. Finally security had to be called in the break it all up but everyone enjoyed the performance.

This is just one little thing that happened at Reno that made it so much fun. I'm sure Jay has a ton of these stories.

Given that map, draw a line from Fargo through Austin and everything east of that line is "east coast"
Now add SW Az, Ca, Or, and Was and you have 80%+ of our population.

I remember in Reno.
The Gold Crown tables were in storage 11 months.
No biggie each year, to roll em out and do it again, they were in a dry climate, don't think this would of been a good move in Ohio/mold.
I ran into a player, who had a deal with Brunswick, if you used their tables each yr and advertise the event, they'll deliver you New equipment for free.

That's not the 'east coast'. Any way you look at it the 'East Coast' is just that, states along the Atlantic. Usually the county is divided into the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, West and Midwest. Some states could be considered either/or if they're on region boundary. Anything east of your 'boundary' would never be termed the east coast. Good map i found: https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/united-states-regions/

IIRC the Mezz West Coast Tour was run by Oscar Dominguez and his wife. He now owns HardTimesSacramento. Family in Frisco is still open btw. You mentioned the Cole event well here's the '17 final:
