Non-leather tip trimming by hand

Hello cuemakers!

I install leather tips on my own cues with a Willard tipper/trimmer and get results that are good for me. Knowing in advance that a lathe is the preferred tool for the job, I'd like to ask for any recommended tools/methods for trimming phenolic or thermoplastic tips for my break cue. Can some of these harder materials be trimmed with the razor in my Willard tool?

Thanks!

I put a White Diamond on my break cue by hand and it looks as good as any.

It was a hard SOB, but it can be cut with a sharp razor knife. You just have to take your time and be careful.
