Northern VA AZers: Rack-n-roll?

I know it's very short notice, but I'm planning on going to Rack-n-Roll billiards in Manassas Park this afternoon at around 5:30 to practice. If anyone in the area has the time and inclination, I'd love to play some free (I don't gamble anything I don't plan to lose, and I don't have money to lose right now) 8-ball, 9-ball, 1p, 14.1, banks, rotation, 10-ball, or any other game for that matter. Black-Balled, axejunkie, Matt_24, anyone?

Sorry Andrew, got a happy hour to attend, you know, women and alcohol calling. Besides, I didn't bring my glock to hit Rack n Roll today, oh wait that's just weekends...

See you Thursday.

Insane is one word for it...

Flex <---- NOT planning on checking that place out

Sorry I missed the chance to play yousterday, Manning!

Sorry to the cops too- glad I wasn't there.

Rack n Roll isn't the jailhouse suggested here. it is a decent PH with some good folks and good equipment. I have been going there on and off for 10ish years and only seen a couple of sketchy things, no more than any other PH in DC area. of course, I turn into a pumpkin at about 10pm...

Put it this way- Manning and I are both white-collars and we aren't gonna get dead over this stupid game...we go in there.

It's true; it's really not a threatening place. If you'd been there with me last night you'd laugh out loud at the suggestion that anything scary might happen there; they don't seem to have a very large customer base since they lost their beer license last June (I didn't ask how they lost it; seemed like it was a sore subject for the management there).

And Black-Balled is right; if it was a dangerous place, we're both way too soft and white and unarmed to be going there.

Anyway BB, it's too bad you couldn't be there. I practiced a good bit on the triple-shimmed table near the end of the bar, which definitely did me some good considering how lazy I get playing on the Fast Eddie's buckets. Then I played a few sets with a guy named Rob with long black hair who apparently works there. Good times were had by all.

Was really an exaggeration on my part. I've been there once and it's not bad, just a little joking. There was a guy who creeped me out but I'm easily frightened :)

I'll probably be in the Fairfax area tomorrow through Sunday. I've been to Fast Eddie's before. Is that still one of the better places to go?

okay then..maybe on sat i will pack up the cues and head up there to check you boys out..

I can't say exactly when. I know for certain I will be in Fairfax. I know for certain I will go to some party. I know for certain I will play pool. I can't say for certain when I will play. I will have access to azb, though so I'll keep you posted. Hopefully be able to provide a few hours notice.

Didn't see this. I've been going to Fast Eddie's in Springfield when I'm able to play.

Man, I'll be out of town this Saturday! If there's any pool playing Sunday afternoon or evening, everyone make sure they keep AZB posted. I could possibly make it Friday night, too, but that's a lot less likely. And if anyone's up for it tonight, I'll be at Fast Eddie's Fairfax, and so will axejunkie, but it's league night so it's pretty tough to get a 9' table.

To answer your question, as far as I know Fast Eddie's Fairfax is the best place to play within 15 miles or so of Fairfax. The tables are in decent enough condition (decent rails, decent level, good cloth), but you won't find very tight pockets. Definitely has better pool player attendance than most other places in the area. I think First Break in Sterling is probably better, but it's a solid 25 minute hike from Fairfax, and that's if you don't hit much traffic.

The Shark Club is in Merrifield, not far from Fairfax Fast Eddies (10-15 min/ car). They have Diamonds, but I haven't been there in years. As I recall, they weren't much for maintenance.

Please let us know where you'll be, Jude. Sounds like your shall incite a gathering...

So anyone shooting today?

I'll probably head out to First Break in Sterling this evening. They have a Sunday night special, something like a flat fee for playing from 6PM-2AM, I think it's $8.

BTW, I wear a black leather glove; if you're there, come by and say hello.

Hey, NVA Players

I've probably pestered all of you about my tournament at Cue Bar in DC. But I'm going to do it one more time (the tournament could also be an AZB meetup--first beer is on me for any AZB regular!). The reason for the new post is that the owner is now kicking in half the pot (really kicking in half the pot, no greens fees).

So you should come for two reasons. First, there's more money in it for you; second, you should encourage and support pool halls that do things like this. We've been averaging 12-15 players and I told him I could get the field up to 24 (the cap) consistently within a month if he would kick in some money. Also, second and third get a $20.00 table time certificate and 4th gets $10.00 in table time.

With a full field of 24 players, the payouts are
1. $200
2. $80 (+$20 table time)
3. $40 (+$20 table time)
4. $20 (+$10 table time)
5. $10
6. $10

Cory

P.S. Also, if you're there much past 10:00 then you're probably in the money.
