Anybody else think that the Challenge of Champions was a bad idea?

$50,000 one winner doesn't make a lot of sense...golf has deep payouts..
..that's how you support the game...many players have to be able to
make a living for the professional game to survive.

It happened once in snooker, one winner....the players split the money
equally and played fiercely....the sponsors, the spectators and the players were happy.

It would've been nice if the 'Challenge' players took 5 thou apiece and
the winner gets the extra $10,000...everybody would've been happy.

Payouts in pool have never made any real sense to me.
For me, that has nothing to do with still loving the game

I don't see any match fixing, They were all top pros and one of them was sure to be in dead stroke.
The problem lies in the odds maker that made it possible to hedge on the outcome. The lest the promoter could have done was throw them a bone.
