not so funny goof-up

Take it to the band saw

That will settle everything. Or highlight it with black apoxy! It is what it is. It may turn out to be your best player. Or, and I like this one best, build it for yourself. Then sell your player!
Win,win!!
Happy Holidays,
Nick :)

That's it?
I thought you were going to tell us the butt was only 28.987456 inches long and you were going to call and borrow my wood stretcher.
Dave,
Is that a new jig for cuemaking:D ? Send me some pics.
Kenny

I've done the same thing , and the cue is in action as we speak ... If it plays good , don't sweat it ... If they're worried about a cosmetic flaw , they can't play , or they're flippers ... Beautiful cue sir , I'd be happy as all get out with it !!!;)

Yes, it's the rings. Somehow I cut the dash rings two different thicknesses. I cut to a standard .030" or .040" for dash rings & .015" & .020" & .030" for accent rings. I cut all rings for a cue at one time & stack them as they'll be assembled on a peg board, each cue having it's own peg of rings. But somehow I cut all .030" rings for this cue, then the last two, which are the butt rings, I cut at .040". I must have been daydreaming or something. Granted, the difference in the rings is equivelant to two human head hairs, pretty fine. But it bothers me. I didn't even notice until the final cut. Just thought i'd share one of those cues that may never become. I'll try a little reworking & finish it and see if I can get it right.

I have trash bins of cues just like this. Often times cues die before they are ever born. Some are sickening because they are fancy. Even this simple cue is a waste of rediculously rare bocote.
I suppose you could route out the mistake with some inlays that cover the ringwork.
