AFeller, in another thread said in response to my praise of this app:
"I am very pleased to read that you find the App useful. If you have any suggestions what could be improved, please let me know. I am just planning to change it to a Universal (IPhone and IPad) Application."
first off, Thank You for writing a very nice app. of the 14.1 apps i have seen, it is by far the easiest to use. i especially like that it gets me away from the mindset of counting shots!!!!! that for me is really important, because i'm unreliable at it at best, and it distracts me from focusing on the game. so the freedom to just hit "re-rack" or "player change" and how many balls are left on the table at the end of the whole run is Amazing! i also like that it constantly displays my high run, average, and quick access to a nice display of all my innings. the Undo features are great, and i love the overall interface, which makes it very easy to use.
i could go on and on about the things i like -- it Really is a nice app, and i recommend everyone with an iPhone get it -- but let me respond to your question about what could be improved. my suggestions are really, really minor.
one thing that confused me at first is the nomenclature in the inning display for runs that cross multiple racks. once it's understood, it's obvious, but it throws Americans off to see decimal points where we would use a comma; at first i thought "9.5?!?!? how can a run be 9 and a fraction balls?!?!). i think your style is FINE, just document it somehow (i apologize if this is documented; i didn't see that). or if you want to get fancy, you could have a preference for this, because many countries do it differently, but i really think your method is very compact and elegant, just make it clear.
rather than the inning number at the top of the display, i'd rather see the number of balls in the current run. i don't really care what inning we're on.
i personally can't see many people carrying iPads into the pool hall, although i suppose that would be Very nice for tournaments with referees and the like, and could eventually replace paper.
in that vein, and looking further down the road, while having a record of previous matches in the app is wonderful, it would be even better to eventually be able to send the matches to our computers somehow, either by syncing or via the mail app.
again, many thanks for your work to create this app, and your clear thinking in designing it so well!
