Nothing like stolen cues

While headed out on a trip, I made the mistake of leaving my cues in my vehicle, along with a camcorder, and many other valuables in my car... Being in the ghetto makes for a sad place on earth. I wanted to bomb every piece of sh!t that walked up and down the street when I discovered that my truck had the door lock punched out, and busted into. I am only glad to say that I didn't see who did it, or I would have lost my mind and killed one of them. Needless to say, my cues were stolen, and that makes for an unhappy player on a short lived road trip. I had to vent, because I cannot describe the hate that I felt inside when I discovered that, and what a person can do when they are put in that situation. Good thing for them, that I didn't come back to my truck in the middle of that situation, or I would have unloaded a magazine on them, and been in jail right now, instead of typing on this computer. Don't have homeowners ins., and AAA says that they definitely won't cover any of the belongings besides luggage, or clothes, up to $200.00. Anyone ever been in this situation, and been paid for lost cues?

Sorry to hear about this. Try these tips and you never know, something may turn up.

Post pictures - That way if anyone runs into someone selling cues, they might be recognized as yours!

Check local pawn shops - Fast money.

Contact local pool rooms with descriptions and pictures of missing cues. Hopefully you do have some pictures of them.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck in finding your cues.

You AAA Insurance will pay Zip for Personal Property past their covered limits. Had you had a Renter, Condo, or Renter Policy your Personal Property would have been cover less deductible, & or depreation. Unless you had FULL REPLACEMENT VALUE COVERAGE.

Many years ago I came out to go to work, my Toyota was gone. Where it was parked the night before was a small pile of broken glass. In the Toyota I had my Fishing Waders, Para-Medic First Aid Kit, and other stuff that was Classified as Personal Property. Never got one CENT for it, was paid off for the Vehicle.

The entire experience was a Nightmare. Stolen stuff in the Ghetto most goes to Pawn, or some Drugie sold your Cue for a Rock or Two of Cocaine. BUMMER….

I worked the Getto (South Central L.A.) that that was what was normally the process.

We had some items stolen from out truck once a long time ago. It included a few low end cues and other misc.

I called the police and made a report and then my insurance company. They will not cover anything left in the car, your homeowners insurance will IF you own a home or have renters insurance.

Moral of the story: Place one frothing dog in vehicle when taking valuables on trip.

Sorry about your loss,

Eydie

Thanks for the tips.. I already did them today. Don't live where it happened.. and I am not able to go around to pawn shop to pawn shop
Happened in Sacramento. That's pretty much what I said about the theif.. probably sold it all for 1-200.. and I'm out 6000.00. All for a little fix of crack, or whatever.

You still have your dignity; he has some things.

You win in the long run; he loses.

Meanwhile, you suffer. I'm sorry.

I once had my cues stolen (Espiritu, Falcon, customized Whitten case). I feel your pain brother.

roadtrip!

i guess im gonna have to fly out to sacramento and get me some new cues at a great price. j/k, that really sux. too bad you didnt know anyone in that area that could keep an eye out.

I had two cues stolen, a schon SP 30 and a Dave Tice, among a lot of other things during a burglery in my home. It has been 7 years since it happened and I am still searching pawn shops and checking out cues that look similiar. The pain and frustration is still with me. On a positive note, in my pawn shop searches, I have found and bought two Joss cues, a Pechauer and another Schon all for excellent prices.

My cue and cd player got stolen just last week; they left the door open so the car got rained on too. Good thing it was just a sneaky pete- my Karella got stolen in San Diego when I left it in my car for one night.

I almost never leave my cue in my car, maybe one day in a hundred, and these weasels always seem to be around at the wrong time.

(Like you, Josh, I guarantee I'm gonna lose it when I catch one.)

Post what cues got stolen and I'll keep an eye out in the North Bay; I know everyone in Sonoma County,etc... maybe Tom from Hardtimes in Sac can keep an eye and ear open as well.

Totally sux, brother. It happened to me on thanksgiving (out of my apartment). It's not worth the anguish (or jailtime) to mull it over for too long. Get a new cue, you might even like it better......................

Sorry to hear it, and of course, keep an eye out for 'em.

What Do You Like To PLay With

Man, I don't know who you are but I feel your pain. I would be happy to lend you a cue until you find one you like. I have about 20 custom cues. Kikel, Scruggs, Espiritu, Phillippi, McDaniels. Send it back when you are done with it or maybe buy it.

I'll take one of each Buddy! :D

Josh,

It really stings when this happens, but at least you are OK.

The inner city is a place of sorrow day in and day out. I worked in the inner-city neighborhoods of South-Central Los Angeles for 20 years. This kind of stuff is so common you become accustomed to it.

At least stealing makes sense -there's a motive. I played in a tournament at Jay's in Inglewood last year. When I came back to my car ( a newer audi A-4) some punk had scratched it up with a screwdriver or key.

They got some of your stuff, but you'll earn it back. One of the pivotal moments in my life came when I was 25 years old. My wife and I were newly married and living in a tri-plex in North Hollywood. We were in a cheaper area with the idea of saving up for a house. I came home one night with a gift for my wife to surprise her. When I got there, she was sitting on the couch crying - our place had been ransacked and they pretty much got everything we had, wedding gifts, her sewing machine, our stereo and TV, the whole 9 yards.

That was the wake-up call. I spend the next year working weekends and saved up enough money for a down payment on a house. The shock of that incident motivated me for many years to come.

The person who did it was a scummy drifter guy who our neighbor took in - he disappeared right after our place was robbed.

In retrospect, I should have been thankful that he didn't attack my beautiful young wife. Some things you can live with, and some things you can't.

So if we take your post figuratively that means you walk around with a gun in your pocket or waistband? WOW!

Thank your lucky stars that was not the case as you may have been dead instead of in jail. Thieves are known to carry guns also. I feel your pain but some things you just have to accept as it could have been worse and there is worse. From now on if you drive a truck try to hide anything inside not to be seen by a passerby.
Recently my son and his roommate were victims of a home invasion and I mean the whole 9 yards. 4 guys with guns pointed to their heads. Hogtied and handcuffed. One on the living room floor one in his bedroom never knowing if a bullet was going into the back of their head. The roommate was kicked repeatedly producing a lot of blood on the carpet. They took almost everything including a car(recovered later) about 15,000 worth of proprerty.(including 2 cues) My son was thankful his daughter cancelled a weekend visitation for that night, it would have been traumatic needless to say. So Josh things could have been worse for you and I agree anything stolen from anyone is a slap in the face and a helpless feeling.
The moral of the story of course, they are still alive. And homeowners paid for everthing. lol.

Thanks Purdman, I appreciate that, but could never take you up on that offer. It pretty much took the wind out of my sails, as far as still going on my trip and gambling, but on the other hand, it makes me want to make it all back! lol. There are a lot of good hitting cues out there... Not saying mine hit awesome, but when you find THE cue for you and play with it for so long, it becomes a part of you. That being said, if every joint to play in had the real nice dufferins, I wouldn't even need a cue. :D I don't have to spend 3000 on cues, but that's what I would have to spend to get what I had. I have no respect for theives, and whatever drives them to steal(drugs, laziness). The gravity of the situation has hit me already. I work my ass off for a living, and I don't expect any special treatment in the pool world for doing so. For some reason, the pool world is full of undesirables, and people who would rather steal, dump, 'borrow'(without any intention of paying back). So after a long hiatus from playing pool, I get a little time to immerse myself back into it, and decide to take a trip. Not even 200 miles from my home, I am robbed, with no way to recoup any losses, and robbed of my small bit of free time that I had planned. The person on the other hand, had no idea what was going on in my life, and no care. In other countries, they cut the hand off of a theif. Those people are lucky. Had I caught this person, I would have almost certainly shot this person for attacking me, even indirectly so. So much for seeing all of my friends in So Cal, or being able to head out to AZ, and Vegas. Have to wait for an insurance adjuster to come out an look at the damage caused to the door from a screwdriver. By the way Tom, if you check this.. you know what my cue looked like.. Schon cx 8, extra shafts, and a couple other cues. Look around, you may be able to find a really cheap camcorder too, an Optura 20, just like yours Max E.

Oh.. geez, don't mean to make anyone nervous! lol.. sure, I take a handgun when I travel by myself. Many times I have slept in my vehicle on the way somewhere, and you might like to be armed in the event that someone does what they did to me while you are in there. As far as someone walking around with guns, that's not me. I was talking with Ernesto last night about it, and he said one time he had a couple thugs choke him from behind, and two more trying to get into his pockets. He kicked and kicked, and people finally came out from the poolroom and scared them away. He still had to go to the hospital for his neck. Another time, he was gambling with Bobby Hunter in LA, and some asshole comes in, and points a gun at him, and says "don't even move", takes the money off the light(a large amount), and leaves. Bad thing was, they made him post back up, and he lost the next two sets and was broke. So forgive me if I sound ruthless, but those type of people deserve what might happen if a person cracks on them. They are taking a huge chance by doing such things, and if they aren't smart enough to think of that ahead of time, then someone deserves to show them how dangerous it could be to steal. I still know how to play pool, I mean I'm not helpless without a cue- but it is a little annoying to say the least. "You wanna play some?" - "Sure, just let me find a cue on the wall that's decent." Yeah right! Makes you not even want to play!

In my experience and the pool world I travel in I would not categorize it as "full of undesirables", it seems to be a very small percentage and at least 90% of the players would not fall into this category and the small percentage that do are usually very easy to spot or someone will clue you in very quickly. Most of the time what you see is what you get in poolhalls, if the guy is a druggie or a low-life or broke and desperate it is usually observable. The vast majority of the people I have befriended in poolhalls over the years have treated me with respect and vice-versa, the ones that don't I don't associate with and warn others about.

There are so many thiefs, liars, rapest, murders, not to mention all the have nots who want anything you have, that you should carry a gun into unknown territory. Don't apologize for that. The key to it is, keep it to yourself. The first thing a crook should see is the flash! If you want to take my money, car, cues, or any other possession, take it. If you intend to rape my wife, molest my child, or harm any of us, you are a dead MF. I don't apologize for that.
Don't flash your wad or your rod!!!!

Dandy replies:

Any smart roadie does like it says in the song bad bad leroy brown. 32 gun in his pocket boy and a razor in his shoe. A pair of brass knuckles in his back pocket with a 2nd clip just in case something malfunctions. Me, I dont gamble so there is no need for me to go around armed.
