thanks .. no idea about the caps .. that's how i got it from KEN ...

:) :)

In my totally amateur point of view that length difference must make some difference in the stiffness of the cue / shaft! I believe that - like you suggested - that superior hit is due to the changed shaft length...

...or maybe because it's a BURTON! :) Alright, just kidding, I'm sure you know that I am biased :-))
More seriously: As it was mentioned in the 'Burton Spain photos' thread, Burton has spent lots of time experimenting what is the very best option/solution for a part of a cue... and as it seems from what you have experienced he found something that is outstanding and that makes some serious difference in what your cue hits.
Oh, and one more thing: isn't it possible that the 'reverse joint' has got something to do with this, too? I mean that if you have hit with another cue that has had a similar joint type and that wasn't anywhere close to this, than this is not the solution, but if you haven't, that - in my opinion - it might have some effect on the cue's hit.
How do you feel?

i have another spain reverse joint as well..
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=52644&highlight=spain

it plays completely differently ...

i dunno .. maybe because this was his own cue.. he probably kept fine tunning it till it was just right .. and damn .. it's just right !

Yes, I suppose you are right :-) His own playing cue must have a great extra feel!

And a great WOW for that 'other' Spain cue you have there... As it seems to me that cue is in a great condition, isn't it? Its wrap seems to be near pristine and so does the butt sleeve itself! What a cue... :-O
Have you noticed any considerable difference in the two cues attributes? (such as joint and/or handle diameter, length, weight, etc? I am simply curious of what could make all the difference - if only I could feel it! :o :( )

Oh, and one more thing: are you planning taking a picture of your current collection? I have found a picture of it but that is quite old and is timed out imo...

it was re-finished by hercek so it is flawless :)

havent actually played with both side by side .. will do so sometimes soon and let you know how they compare..

as for another group shot .. maybe sometime down the line .. have several new ones expected over the next 3 months .. some should be quite spectacular ... and will add significantly to the "group" dynamic :)

It was the very best choice sending the cue to Hercek, in my opinion. After you happen to play with them side by side please tell us what your experiences were!:)

Nevertheless: if that's the case with your collection then I can hardly wait for these 3 months to pass!
That 'dynamic group' sounds quite interesting too... I have only one group, the so called 'way-too-much-constant-group' so I'll have to give that some speed first  :)

think i might sell the first one now .. dont really have the space to keep 2 cues from the same cue-maker ...

Wish I had only one - not even to decide which one the sell of them (I know it won't be a question for you which you'll pass, though).

On the other hand I can understand you, my father quite frequently travels to China in business cases (these times it became a bit more rare as they have opened their office in Kanton) and he always landed in Hong Kong... once he spent 2 weeks there that he had to spare so he looked around that city. Once he told me what the price were for a squarefeet place in the heart of the city - or even a bit more outside of it - and it was staggering. As far as I know every little sqaurefeet is a great treasure there, right? :)

I hope once I'll make it there too, my father took a lot of pictures and I was amazed!!

residential space can cost up to US$4,000 per square foot :)

it's crazy !

where i live, it costs US$1,000 per sqare foot .. so a thousand sq ft apartment is 1 Million ...

felt like trying this one out again

good morning all,

thought of giving this cue a breath of fresh air and again, wow .. what a great cue ..

haven't used in quite some time and have been sticking pretty much to my boar and szam so it felt quite different ... but 15 - 20 mins into the session and boom... balls were just flying into the pockets ... and cueball action is just unreal ...

not sure if anyone is selling spains at "crisis" prices but if you can get your hands on one .. do !
