What's the point of having all the naked women Krap on the avatars'?? There are allot of kids out there visiting our site, I thought this was a BILLIARD WEBSITE. We all (kids too) get blitzed enough with todays marketing gurus, personally I feel it should be NOT be part of this fourum. I never see this type of stuff in BD or P&B magazines, why should it be here? If AZ is representing the billiard world via the Net, let the smut and sex find another place for its home.

Nude or scantily clad? :) What's the policy you're looking to enforce?

It will come down to the point of view / philosophy of AZ. I run a site on a separate topic (octopuses and squid) where lots of adults and kids alike congregate. My general approach is:
1) you cannot be under 13 and have membership on the site. If it's determined you're under 13, your membership is removed
2) every new seed post in the public forums must be related to cephalopods (i.e., octopuses and squid :-) )
3) avatars cannot contain images that contain nudity

Some have suggested that we should only allow cephalopod-related avatars, but we haven't had to go there as yet. Most are ceph-related. Same seems to be true here. We haven't had lots of "babe" avatars, though, but I could see how it might ruffle some feathers within the community.

My general belief is that parents should know what their kids are doing online, and if they're not comfortable with the sites they visit, they should curb their involvement. To that end, if I were running AZ, I might consider addressing some of the problematic avatars, out of interest in being as mass-appealing as possible. But again, it depends on who runs the site. It's their call.

Good post and ideal. I for one don't care for the smut. I see you have some that do ,why don't they go to another site for the crap...LES

naked boobs, naked butts, full frontal, naked guys etc are probably over the line...but girls in a swimsuit to me isn't so bad. Nothing you can't see at the beach, and I've seen worse in pool halls many times. Thongs maybe a little over the line for a family site yes. Joey's was pushing it in my view, but damn I liked it anyway. If the choice is that, or one of purdmans pictures I'll take Joey's any day of the week. Some people may hate red tailed hawks, think they are the sign of the devil or something so should I have to get rid of mine?

The problem on sites like this is things that annoy you may not annoy everyone else. If you cater to the small groups, like most of america does, then you end up with a bigger mess.

you can turn off avators, ignore users, and a host of other things. Personally I find the use of those emoticons more annoying and harder to turn off.

I thought this was a billiard web site plain and simple, I just don't understand why we NEED to constantly show women in provacative poses, I guess it must be IMPORTANT because AZ lets it happen, but, what's their reasoning?
Women are constantly looked upon like the cameras are rollin' all the time, why HERE? Maybe the homosexual crowd would like to see some Chippendales, boy now that would be even more worthwhile wouldn't it?
SEX is everywhere, why here? What good does it do? Do they have these avatars on tennis/bowling/& PGA websites?
Have fun now attacking my above point of view.
If you have kids, protecting them as they grow is a challenge, its why I personally was instrumental in having the BCA move the Jr. Nationals out of the bars and into the colleges for the nationals, I hated it when I saw 8 and 10 year girsl and boys around alcohol, smoke and all that happens in a bar.

As far the kids on AZ here, I don't think their seeing anything they don't see on TV or in magazines everyday.

I don't think the current rash of sexy woman avaitors will last forever. But will probably die out at some point.

AZ is a place to have fun, learn things and communicate with some great people. :)

suggestive pics have been around the site for a lot longer than a few months.....


everybody is going to complain no matter what you post..... so the easiest thiing is that if YOU dont like avatars...(suggestive come with the terriotory)..the YOU can turn them off.... however those that dont mind them dont have a alternate avenue to make them happy....


so ....the power to make the most folks happy and offer the most "personal options" lies in NOT censoring folks avatars.....if they fit in the terms of service agreements....of course.


sorry.. .if you dont like the music...change the channel...on your own radio!!!

PIRANHA, I have been here quite a while. This site is very much like a pool hall. Along with all the pool playing, cues, lessons, etc, there come the personalities. Right wing, left wing, religious, non religious, sexist, intelligent, dumb, smart ass, cool, un cool,etc. You get the picture! Some of us were in the pool halls in the 50's. What a scene that was.
I think Mike and the Moderators are doing quite well with Az. They have been consistent in their dealings while letting us have some freedom to express who and what we are about. The sexy avatars are an expression of who they are. Being with my wife for 33 years and still being in love, I am not interested in the sexy avatars. I recon when I was young and dumb and full of beans, I might have had an avatar like that.;)
