Numbers on Aramith balls not flush?

I've noticed on several Aramith sets that when I run my fingers over the black numbers I can feel them.
A) Does anyone else feel that?
B) Wouldn't that effect roll?
C) Am I crazy?

Also, did you make that cleaner in your profile pic?

Nice! Thanks!

Back in the IPT days my local spot, Magoo's/Tulsa, held qualy's. IPT sent balls and cloth to be used. The IPT Aramith balls had some inlays that could be barely felt. There were some complaints and supposedly KT was going to get aramith to fix it but the tour died first. All the balls i've seen since then have been flawless.

Maybe you just think you feel them. Take 3 numbered balls and three CBs from different sets and put them in a rack. Now
keep your eyes closed or blindfold yourself and mix them around in the rack. Feel each one and put what you think are numbered balls to one side and CBs to other side. Open your eyes and see if you’re correct

I don't feel the numbers on a used set of Centennial TV Tour Edition or Dynasphere (Platinum and Bronze). If your sets are old enough, I expect you would feel the numbers due to shrinkage. Not to turn this into another thread on new ball recommendations, but Dynasphere Gold are on Amazon for $219.99 and far better quality than the Aramith Premiers, Premiums, and Standards, and maybe Aramith's best sets.

I have never seen nor heard of any Aramith set of pool balls, even the lowest priced versions, ever manifest a problem or complaint about being able to feel the design. It is not like rings or inlays that are installed in a cue by the cue maker.

I am sure Aramith would tell you this doesn’t happen with their pool ball sets under normal usage. I have a set of Centennials; my 1st set ever purchased. I also have two additional sets of Centennials and 2 sets of Aramith pool balls that are perfect.

My 1st set of Centennial pool balls are 40 years old that shows signs of usage from the tiny nicks that always develop sooner or later from play. This very set is my travel set. It gets played a lot and the Centennial design is still perfect and smooth.

This is a flaw, IMO, and can effect the roll or a pool ball as it slows down, especially if English was used on the stroke.
It could be a counterfeit set, just saying because Aramith pool balls do not exhibit this problem & this definitely is one.

I tried playing with 3 different versions of Dynasphere pool balls. There’s only one version I’d consider ever getting.
But aside from being less expensive than a new set of Centennials, quality is surely not better nor more attractive.

tend to agree. dyna's are very good balls with tolerances as tight as Aramith but i wouldn't say they were 'far' better at all. Dyna's cheapest ball 'might' be a tad better than A'mith lo-end stuff but its not huge. i've only hit Dyna's once and that was in a billiard store. They played fine. Heard they stay cleaner a lil longer but as far as playing i don't think anyone could tell the difference.

The thread about numbers in Aramith pool balls being able to be felt from raising seems incredulous.
I know it can happen with pool cue designs but I never heard, nor imagined, this happening with balls.

I've measured lots of balls over the years with more sophisticated equipment than most have. The number are never flush with the body of the ball.

On really old sets, there could be a large difference, that is easily felt in the hands or seen by the eyes.

Thanks! I'm actually thinking of getting a set of Dynaspheres and selling my Aramiths just because we used Dynaspheres at league and I liked them.

Right now I have a set of Premiers and two sets of the Crown Standards. All different ages. My newest set I am currently using and are about 6 years old and I can feel the numbers on all balls but not as well as the other older sets which I can feel very well. I'm glad I'm not crazy. LOL Well...
