O.B. Spotter. The ultimate billiard practice machine!

This is not the first gadget I've seen that spots object balls for drills. The previous one that I recall placed the balls close to the device as opposed to this new one that rolls them for a distance down the table.

At $US 300, I doubt that it will be a big seller. I assume it costs that much because it has electronics for a remote (bluetooth?) trigger? Without electronics it seems like you could reduce the price to $100.

That seems about right. It would also eliminate a ton of certifications he has to go through that he probably isn't aware of, saving him thousands of dollars.

Can you control the distance of OB travel by ramp angle, friction, whatever or is travel consistent and you move machine? How well would this work on bar boxes?

this sums up my feelings

i just use donut stickers

best wishes to you

yea but then you move your stance, if just only so slightly, so you're not shooting from the exact same place. i think there's some merit to this product, but i'm not a drill / practice player myself

i am definitely a drill practice player and as i am sure ob spotter has it’s value, donut stickers are better than a half centimeter of accuracy

which can be, across the table, a big difference

i like the concept and am sure it will be great for most people

put a line of balls across the table and ball in hand shoot them in from wherever you want the shot to be. it will basically be the same shot over and over if you make it so. and you get the feel of real playing of shots you will be facing. and takes less time than a machine setting it up.

and with drop pockets you have to go over and empty them anyway.

great invention but bad application.

Hi everybody,
My name is Guy Jémus, and I'm from Montréal , Canada. I would like to introduce you to my new billiard practice tool (patent pending) that I make and also produce for ordering. It is called the O.B. Spotter.

It is designed to send an object ball (O.B.) repeatedly to a very precise location (that you choose) on the pool table for you to shoot at many times in a row (12 times/charge). The idea is to have the O.B. Spotter send at the exact same position one object ball at the time, for you to shoot, with your cue ball already marked and place on the table so that your visual and muscle memory remember how to make that exact shot many times and experiment with different spin effects. No more walking around the pool table to "replace" the object ball that you missed time after time! Let the O.B. Spotter do the job for you! When you are satisfied with the result, you simply change the O.B. Spotter's location on the pool table to practice a different shot. My experience shows that you can make 50% or more shots with the O.B. Spotter for the same period of time than without it, increasing your practice time efficiency significantly.

To find more about this incredible machine, go to Facebook@O.B. Spotter to see many available videos. Feel free to message me at the same time on the Facebook@O.B. Spotter page to have more information.

Thank you for your time. Guy Jémus.

I don't know that it's for me but I think it's a pretty cool gadget, Guy.

Well done.

An interesting concept.

I agree though. The price point seems high for the benefit.

Then again, most of us have probably paid more for less, so...

Neat prototype. Surprised at how consistent the stimpmeter roll is. I had this idea but it used a swinging arm to place the ball, yours is more simple.

Have you evaluated the market to identify the value added and demand for your product? Have you thought about simplifying it for actual manufacturing? Did you have or did you perform the appropriate electromagnetic compliance testing for your transmitter and receiver? Is your battery UN38.3 and or UL certified? What about the charger? And how do you ship it?

These things will need to be thought about before selling.
I have 1 of these.
I brought it to the local pool hall when I got it.
At least 1 guy ordered one right away

I’ve got one of these and I really like it.
I use it for a bunch of drills with the projection pro billiards system, and it helps mix things up during practice.
It’s not perfect for every situation, but for stuff like the Bert Kinister workout, it’s super handy.
Overall, I’m a fan and would definitely recommend it.

Consistency is the task of the player. Automated placement is better applied to bowling.
