Oak butt splice

How common is it to have oak below maple?

My first catalog Lucasi is losing its wrap, and I was sorta surprised to find oak underneath.

Is this something that is more low price range, or everywhere?

I’m not a cuemaker but I doubt China uses oak. I was at a company that was making baby high chairs, and we had a wooden chair quoted at a Chinese factory. They used something called rubberwood, which looked similar to oak.

This was 15 years ago and I may be misremembering slightly.
