OB-1 shafts... standard tip change?... when?

I bought an 30" OB-1 shaft almost a year ago and am wondering what tip is on it because it draws the ball so effortlessly that I'm amazed at the action I am getting. I currently have it on a 30" Bob Frey SP ebony butt.

When I go to their website I see that they list the Everest as their standard tip... yet when I go back to my email message order from a year ago I see that the tip listed in my order is a Talisman Pro Medium... and I also visited an e-Bay store that sells OB-1s and they also mention the tip as being a Talisman Pro Medium. That aside, it doesn't play like one as I have been using that tip on my other shafts (a Predator 314 included) for quite some time. I suspect that my tip is not a Talisman.

So my question is... when did the change take place? With all the knowledge of our collective membership I feel that someone out there knows the answer.

From those of you who want to suggest that I contact OB-1 directly... I have... I sent them an email this afternoon. ;)

TIA, cd.

I've received the feedback in April, but that was most likely some time after the initial change so February is most likely the time ;-)

You could actually see the difference where the Tiger has a darker color than the Talisman and also feels a little harder, at least for me.

Thanks Trigger.

That being the case I guess that I have the Talisman Pro Medium on mine... which means that all the effortless draw action that I'm getting is directly due to the shaft.

As I stated above I'm quite familiar with that tip... but on a Predator 314, on another laminated shaft and also on a standard (Bob Frey) shaft... and those shafts don't draw whitey anywhere near as effortlessly as this OB-1... fwiw.

And no, I'm not a shill for OB-1... I just own one and although I bought it last October, I only recently had my cuemaker take it down to 12.6 mm and also to match the joint diameter of my Bob Frey SP butt.

I bought 2 of them when they first came out at the expo about 3 years ago. They came with a morri hard and a talisman tip then. I bought one of each and liked the morri so much i sold the other one. When i herd that they stopped putting the morri on them i bought a bunch of the tips so i could have them. I still have the same tip on mine and it still plays as good as the day i got it and i play a lot. Its like it don't want me to change it. LOL

That's some serious pool time on your original tip (3 Years!). It sounds like the Moori's hold up well.
