Ok, here is a shot difference between the OB-1 and Predator. When I shoot with a predator and use 3/4 tip of English the object ball does this:

CueTable Help

When I shoot the same shot with the OB-1 I get a ton of throw:

CueTable Help

I love the shaft but I am going to have to get use to shooting closer to center ball.:o

I think you are seeing a difference in squirt, not throw. I assume you are using left side spin, although you don't say so. It is very unlikely that the throw (cue ball rubbing on object ball) is significantly different for the two sticks.

Yeah, squirt was my first thought too... I think it's pretty much impossible to impart enough spin on the cue ball to transfer enough spin to the object ball to make the object overcome the collision induced throw by this margin.

The way to test this is to put the cue ball on the middle point of the break line, and shoot it at different speeds with that 3/4 tip of english towards the middle diamond at the other end of the table.

This will show you how much squirt you are getting. The ahrder you hit it, the farther to the right you will hit, assuming left english, and vise versa.

Sticking as much to center ball as you can is always recommended, but I think if you practice cutting balls with english with the high squirt cue, you become used to it.

edited to add: Also, check your carom angle on this shot. I think you'll find the cue ball is striking further away from the side pocket with the high squirt shaft...
