Ob 2 Inside Scoop

I've had the chance to run a rack or two with a OB-2, 3/8x10 configuration on a wrapless butt of mine.
And, yes, it's da nuts. The cueball never leaves the table, and the english seems to bite every rail. Feel or not subjectively (personally, it's very agreeable to me), this thing does not deflect when level stroked. edit: I'd say that's the most forgiving factor of these shafts, in cause you are punchy or stiff when warming up or having a bad day. Masse and strike down in to the whitey and it'll curve for days as well.
I miss my OB-1...it's at the shop right now. OB-2 when it makes sense financially for sure, for sure.

I have tried it out up at Seyberts. It feels much stiffer than the OB1 and more solid, IMO. I thought the OB1 felt kind of mushy and whippy and did not care for it. I believe it had an Everest tip on, which is not my cup of tea, but overall it felt real good.
Just for comparisons sake, I like the original pre-cat Predator 314 and the Mezz WD-700 for "low deflection" choices. My preferred is a standard maple, either a Paul Dayton taper or I also like the Josey taper.
Oh, and one more thing. I like around a 12.5mm. The "Z" shaft always seemed very small to me, but the OB2 didn't and it's the same (11.75mm). Maybe it's the ferrule??

I have an OB-2 and I really like it. I haven't tried too many shafts, so I can't give you much in the way of experience. But I can tell that I have tried other cheaper shafts from time to time, and I am always relieved to get back to my OB-2.
I just cannot put english on the ball as easily with other shafts like I can the OB-2. I feel like I have to load up to get good spin with other shafts. Same for draw and follow.
As long as you have a decent stroke, and can shoot a normal shot without accidently putting english on the ball, you would like this shaft I think.

I have an OB-2 and I have to say that it's the Hungarian Nuts!!!! I started playing with a low deflection shaft a few years ago, the 314. I then started playing with a Z shaft exclusively about 1.5 years ago. I loved it to death, never really wanting to play with an Ob-1...and I play on the same team as the owner, and 2 of the shop guys. LOL. A few months ago, Royce told me that they were coming out with a shaft comparable to the Z shaft. After I tried it, I was amazed!! The hit was softer than the Z, kinda like the Ob-1, but I felt like the deflection was less than the Z.
After I started playing with my OB-2, I felt like I couldn't miss!! English feels almost effortless, and drawing the rock is simply too easy. Bottom line, Royce made one hell of a product!!

I bought one just to try...plays excellent. More solid, feels more firm when striking the ball to me than my OB-1. I wasn't really conscious of the thinner diameter, it really shoots precisely. If anyone is interested, I'll list it in the for sale forum. Like new, 3/8X10 black collar.

9Ball_JJ is telling it like it is! But, he is young and shoots straight and don't miss, plus he can adapt quicker than us old dogs. I got an OB-1 six months ago and played with it for six weeks and could not get the control down, because myself like allot of us older player use extreme english and finesse for control. I talked to Royce and he said you can cue closer to the center of the cue ball and get the english and control. Two months ago I change the tip to a Wizard Hard and started playing with it and I love the control I get now, like teaching an old dog new tricks after 52 years of playing with standard shafts. I have a new cue coming in and I'm going to have an OB-1 and OB-2 made for it. The reason for both is I play some bar box tournaments with the mud ball and I think the larger shaft OB-1 will work better for that. Also, the have just came out with a break shaft that is great.

I love my OB-2! I had received my new shaft just 3 days before the Houston Open and it felt great! I already played with an OB-1, so it didn't take me much time to get used to the OB-2. I love the smaller diameter as it lets me be a little more precise on where I'm hitting the cue ball.
I also use my OB-2 on a brand new OB Cue!
The OB-2 diameter was too small for me-Put to much spin on the ball.
But with that said, I LOVE my OB-1 at 12.75 and it is my main gamer.
Also I feel the 11.75 shafts seem to take away from my line where
my OB-1 for some reason sees the line much better. My OB-1 is tip'd
with a Morri medium and with the OB core gives me just the right feel.
The other shaft I use is a Tiger X with a Sniper on it-Plays in between
my Josswest shaft (that came with the cue) and the OB-1. The JW shaft
13mm hits a little to hard and firm for me, but I still prefer them over a
