OB Classic shaft vs Classic +

I have been playing with a OB Classic 30" shaft, I see that you cant buy these anymore, OB is now selling the Classic +

Can some one tell me what the difference is? is one better than the other???

The Classic was made out of 6 pieces of laminated wood. The new one is made out of 6 pieces of solid wood. The hit is better in my opinion. A little more lively feeling. Also, the deflection (cue ball squirt) has been reduced *significantly*. It would be hard to imagine liking the Classic and not LOVING the Classic Plus.

Classic+

Have had one for a while now and really like it. Had a local cue guy turn shaft down to about 12.6mm and brought taper back a little further. Combined with a Ultraskin hard tip it's now even better. These tend to have a softer hit and the hard US really made hit crisper.

Aside from the hit, can anyone guess at the deflection tendencies of the layered maple ferrule v their more conventional "white" ferrule?

From what the OB guys have said they are close to the same but the OB2 vs Pro seemed lower

The original shafts were made using 6 pieces of flat laminated maple. The new plus shafts are made using 6 pieces of solid maple. The maple in the plus shafts is a much higher grade so the shafts look better as they are cleaner looking and have less grain lines, they are smoother so they feel better when you stroke your cue as there are less glue lines and the shafts also play better as we reduced the cueball deflection produced in the new plus shafts when compared to the original shafts. The plus shafts also have better warranties as they now have a lifetime warranty against warpage which the original shafts do not have.

So in summary, the new shafts look better, feel smoother, play better and have better warranties.

This makes me want to get rid of my 314-2 and get the Classic+
