Same taper just maple shaft now. Supposedly the hit is better but I haven't been able to try one out yet.

Me either I hear all good things thanks for clearing up the taper thing I wasn't sure

I've tried and owned the OB1 (original), OB Classic Pro, and have tried a friends OB2. I currently use no product from OB but after hitting with the new OB Classic Plus, I may just order one for my custom cue. The hit is much more solid like a standard shaft and the feel and sound is great. Miles better than it's previous production counterparts. Hope this helps.

I have both the Classic and Classic +...love them both. I'd say that the + feels more solid...you'll be happy!

Yea I hear all good things just wasn't sure on taper. I see there less deflection how much less then the old?

Actually, the Classic shaft was also maple. It's the construction that has changed, the original was thinly sliced layers laminated into sections, and those sections were then semi-radially laminated. Now the initial sections are made from solid maple (no thin slices), and those sections are still radially laminated.

Also OB has stated that the maple selections for the plus-shafts are of a superior maple quality, which seems to be what allows getting rid of the laminated sections. I believe you can find mention of this on AZ in a thread about the new plus-shafts from a couple months ago.
