Our October Contest is for a FREE $675 12 point OB Pool Cue model #408 which you can see HERE. You also get to choose which shaft you would like on the cue, OB-1, OB-2, OB Classic or OB Classic Pro.

To enter the October Contest you must email us a design for a New OB logo. Now in case you are wondering, we are currently not planning on changing the OB Logo but if the design is good enough then you never know....we may use it in the future :)

Your submission does not have to include the words OB Cues (but it can)

All entries must be received by Tuesday 10/23/12 at 11.59pm EST and the winner will be announced on our website and here on AZB on Monday 10/29/12.

There is a maximum of two entries permitted per person.

By submitting a design you agree to give OB Cues the rights to your design and permission for OB Cues to use the logo if we choose.

Entries will not be accepted if there is not a graphical representation of your idea, in other words, you must email us a picture of your design which can be created using some type of software or it can also be hand sketched. Simply emailing us your idea typed out without us actually being able to see it would not count.

Email all contest entries or any questions about the contest to shane@obcues.com and good luck to all of you that take the time to enter!

Hi Shane,

Can you give us an idea of the primary places where the company uses the logo?

I'm assuming:

On the cue/shaft
On the website
On promotional items like tee-shirts, etc.

I guess one thing I'm looking for is a width/height ratio requirement. No sense in designing a great-looking horizontal logo if it won't fit on a cue.

I love the current logo, it illustrates the shaft construction very well and works everywhere. Better so than the animal on the "other" LD shaft maker.

Plus this way if you keep the logo, I'm first in line for the cue, since you will be using the logo and I agree with it, and I don't have to do any work.

Great question!

Up till now we have:

Used just the OB swirl logo on the butts of our cues.

On the OB-1 shafts, we use the swirl logo with OB-1 right under the logo.

On the website www.obcues.com we have the swirl logo with OB Cues to the right of it and then our tag line "Get serious about your game" underneath it.

On shirts that we have made up for staff and pro players (and soon to be available to the public), we generally have done the swirl logo with OB right underneath it as shown in my avatar on AZB.

Ideally, if the new winning logo design was used by us in the future, we could replace the current swirl logo with the new logo and add the words OB-1 or OB Cues or Get serious about your game when necessary and applicable.

Does this make sense?

I like the logo you use now quite well, so I think the contest is quite hard, but fun:-)

Just a question: I do have two ob1 shafts. One does only have the ob logo and the other one has the ob logo and ob 1 written below. If I am right the one without "OB 1" is older. Was there a time when you changed from only logo to logo with text, f.ex. when you introduced the OB 2?

Jon,

Since 2008, all OB-1 shafts that leave Texas with a joint installed have OB-1 under the logo, prior to 2008 the finished shafts just had the swirl (OB logo)

However, all shaft from day 1 until now that get sold as partials with not joint work done get shipped with a logo that only has the swirl. So, your shaft with just the swirl was either completed by us prior to 2008 or it was finished by someone who bought it as a partial.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your informative reply. The shaft with only the swirl is turned down to appr. 12.6mm, so I guess it could be either way. Somehow I doubt it is older than 2008, but it could of course have been in stock for a long time before it was sold. I have asked the former owner and hope to get an answer.

Edit: Nothing was done to the joint, Bob Dzuricky of Dz custom cues turned it down.

I want to thank all those who have submitted entries for our contest, and let everyone know that the winner will be announced sometime next week.

My apologies for the delay, but Shane is out of the office and won't be back until next week. An unexpected special family gathering came up and he is of course attending. As soon as he is back he will get the word out about the winner.

Again, sorry for the delays!

Thanks again to everyone who entered our logo contest and apologies for the late announcement. As Royce mentioned, I had to take a trip to California to visit family that arrived from out of the country so I was off the grid for a week :)

The winner of the October contest can be found here: http://www.obcues.com/pages/Contests.html

Oh man... sorry I missed this one!

Per your website you'll have another contest in Dec. Is that still correct info? If so looking forward to it!

Congrats to the current winner!
