I have heard a lot about the new OB shafts. They are allegedly as good as if not better than Predator. Does anyone know anything about them and how they play?

Tons of threads

There are tons of recent threads about this shaft.

However, if you want to know about how they are constructed please go to their website.

www.obcues.com

As far as how they play, I think they are the most uniformly radial shaft out there. I absolutely love the way that they shoot as well, but just like everything in the pool world someone is bound to disagree.

My brother does alot of reading on here, and after reading rave reviews from multiple people he went out and bought one. He loves it. I played with it and it felt kinda "dead" to me? I could play with it, it just didn't have that lively feel I like in a cue/shaft though.. Again though he absolutely swears by it so who knows?

My wife was playing with a Meucci Black Dot for over 3 years and she's always had problems with her cue power on draw shots. I recently got an OB-1 for her birthday and she can't believe the difference it has made. She's now drawing the OB the length of the table effortlessly.

I had one and had the same results with a guy on my TAP team.
I sold it.

I couldn't get used to it after a month or so and didn't like the
long taper.
The design is unconventional, to say the least.

I'd play with one again if it were the original taper.
Does anyone know what they weigh?

Hey Susie,

IMO, you simply have to try it out for yourself. Go to the OB1 web site and find a dealer location near you...and then try it out.:)

I agree with PSA. Shaft choice is as individual as the tip you play. What feels perfect for one is awful for another. The OB1 is a beautiful shaft, but you need to try one to see if you agree. I play Predator.

I see an OB-1 shaft can be fitted with a Uni-loc joint, but I don't see Lucasi listed among the cues it can fit with. Would it fit a Lucasi joint?

Due to the design, the shaft hits somewhat soft. Many say its a "dead" feel. They do play well just not huge amounts of feedback with the original ferrule construction. Like PoolSponge...I prefer Predator.;) But of course even my personal 314 is raced up a bit with an old Grice ferrule.:D
