OB shafts

I thought I read something on OB shafts that said the OB-1 shaft is for the "finesse" shooter and the OB-2 is for the "power" shooter. Is this true? if anyone knows, let me know and if you have a link to a website that shows would also be useful. Thanks alot for your help.

not really true...but in a way it is true

your stroke/game is in your hands and mind.

different cues can slightly compliment your style....different cue shafts will make you think differently....thou

for instance when i pickup my martin d-15 acoustic imnot really inspired to play iron maiden...but i could if i wanted.

if i pick up a gibson explorer....im not gonna be inspired to play elmore james...but i can if i really wanted.

both guitars have a different feel and different aura about them they inspire you to play differently

i can play powerfully and with finess with the same shaft.....
its more marketing than anything else but certain shafts might inspire you to play the shot differently....just find a shaft that your comfortablewith day in day out....thats your best bet....

@imcallah

both shafts are great (my subjective opinion). I used to play for 15 years with steel-hard shafts and always preferred them. Then i tested the OB Shaft and it felt great. The OB-1 is 12.75 mm and isn t that hard like a stiff non-laminated Shaft- but not too soft. I really enjoy to play with it- in my opinion it gives players with good technique nice advantages- each ball can be made without shooting that hard. I love it to move the Cueball just with a good stroke and good technique. The OB-2 Shaft has the same good quality and a bit lower deflection (ob-1 a bit more- but not that much) and the OB-2 is a bit stiffer with his 11.75 diameter (taper a tick different/stiffer). In my opinion it is just a question if u prefer a bigger or less bigger diameter. That s all- both are really good quality shafts. Test now all laminated shafts- not one satisfied me except the OB-Shafts.

Try em out- i love em:)

i have had my OB2 for about 2 and a half months and absolutely love it. the one thing i find is that when i try to play a power shot i lose control due to the amount of spin which it generates. i can play more of a finesse game and still achieve the shape and position i need. good luck in your endeavors.

You know you may be on to something here. I have had OB1 (sold it)and currently have OB2. Now when I pick up my OB2 for some unknown reason I feel that I have to power almost every shot. It is as if it will not let me baby anything, its bang bang bang all the time. I got to the point that sometime I even break with it after all what the difference I'm hitting the CB hard anyway. Now when I grab my Meucci with the Black Dot it will not tolerate that bang away stuff because I will miss most of these bang it hard shots and I have to play my regular game of finesse and spin. I have no idea what causes it, maybe the lack of feedback from the OB2 but it is what it is. Thanks for the thread and maybe someone can chime in on this.

I use the OB_2 shafts and am delighted with the performance. It would seem to me that the opposite of what you state would be true. That is the OB-1 would be somewhat better for those shots requiring more power, while the OB-2 would favor the finesse player. I base my thoughts on the fact that most break cues use a 13mm or larger tip to insure maximum surface contact w/ the tip thus lessening the chance of a miscue.....the OB-1 is 12.75mm. Smaller tip diameters are said to generate more spin on the cb but they also require much more attention to a proper stroke and tip placement.....hence the OB-2 with its 11.75mm diameter would seem better suited to finesse play. I have never played with the OB-1 shafts but I have no problems using all the power necessary w/the OB-2's.
These are just my thoughts on the subject.....and may well be completely wrong.......Dan
