Ob2 and ob classic pro...

If anyone is interested, I've got an OBClassic (not Pro) that I'd like to trade for an OB2. It's a 3/8" by 10 joint with OB "stitched" collar. Obviously, I need the same joint in trade, but I'm not picky about the collar design.

Purchased new from Seybert's and had them install a Kamui Clear Soft tip. It's got about 20 playing hours on it and is straight as an arrow.

I bought it because I wanted to try a firmer shaft than my OB1, but soon realized that I prefer the softer hit. But I'm real curious to try the OB2.

I tried both extensively before making a purchase, the place I teach at has demos of all of the major shafts. IMO, they play pretty similar, so much so that it was a difficult decision.

The OB2 has a deader feel but seemed to be just slightly more accurate when using spin, i.e. the ball tended to hit just a little bit closer to center pocket vs. the Pro. The deflection is virtually identical, but on certain shots I did feel like the OB2 was just a bit more accurate or maybe a bit more consistent etc.

OB Pro feels more like other LD shafts because of the ferrule and still has ultra low deflection. Some people prefer this hit, and some people don't like the wooden ferrule look, although that didn't bother me at all.

I went with the OB2, but I also bought the OB Classic after evaluating the OB1 and the Classic, something about the tradeoffs in the larger shaft steered me in that direction.

Again, very, very similar, just whether you enjoy a more cushioned feel or a slightly stiffer hit. Tip pairing with each shaft can make a different as well. Both are great shafts and you can't go wrong.

Good luck!
Scott
