All i have to say is that it was an amazing finals.

I was there and i saw the whole thing.

The Finals was a race to 15.

Occollo was leading the taiwanese kid (the boy who recently won the world under 21 if i am not mistaken)

14 - 4. Thats right. Occollo was on the hill needing to win just 1 rack to win the championship.

Guess what.

The boy won the next 11 racks to clinch it! The organizers made a recording of the match. I wonder if i can get a copy of it. Matches like this does not happen all the time. It was Occollo for christ sake!

Ok. Would anyone like to join me in taking up golf lessons? I think i am going to start next week.

i also read earlier this month on the az homepage that orcullo is the #1 player in the world. where did this come from? he's a great player no doubt but he really only won like 1 major championship last year so where did the #1 ranking come from.

Sorry did not see that there was an earlier thread and posted another. No the boy did not ran 11 racks.

If i remembered correctly occolo returned to the table on 2-3 occasions and did have and opportunity to win but sort of fumbled.

One he tried to do a jump but could not control the cue ball and it flew off the table.

Second one he had and open table but scratched after potting the first 1 ball.

Not sure about him being a no 1 player, maybe it is a players choice voting thing. But from the money games that i watched him play i think he could very well be the no 1 money player.

But on that day he was humbled.

I think this is where Occollo no 1 ranking came from. The Taiwanese boy is ranked 119!

come to think of it, now that Chao Fong Pang is in china coaching the chinese players the secrets of taiwanese pool, i think the prospect is a bit frightening.

I also watched a money match played between the boy and world champion Ronnie Alcano and as Paul Newman would put it, Ronnie had his ass handed to him.

1. This boy, Ko, is dubbed "Prince of Pool" in Taiwan, due to his good looking. He was Wu Chia Ching's classmate in high school & they trained together. He's Junior World Champion in 2007 and won Taiwan's year-end Super Cup, where he beat Gomez in final.
2. Ko didn't do very very well in the recent national trial. He was ranked fifth after Wang, Wu, Yang & Chang (Pei Wei), and won't feature in the upcoming Asian Tour except the Taipei stop. (Last year's overall champion Chang Yung Lin couldn't even make the team)
3. Chao Fong Pang actually didn't take the job as China's head coach. He turned it down because there was too much pressure.

i dont think that Orcollo being #1 is much off. if you look on the 2007 money list on the AZ site Orcollo placed very good on many events plus if you look at him as a money player he is one of the best. also dont forget that he placed 2nd in thailand open and he was on the hill on a very good match. Ko just put together an amazing performance.
