OCRULLO vs.

I went bust on my Vcash too. Maybe there is a vcash go off support group out there for us JoeyA. My sin was betting on Archer too much. One day its Archer who is the horse coming up lame, the next its Orcullo. Go figure...

I'm Thinking, I'm Thinking

There's more action scheduled for tonight at Dan Lavoie's Hammer Heads Billiards.

Where's JOEY A.

As I type this, Richie Orem is playing Edwin Montal for 1,000 jellybeans and Corey Deuel is plaing Dennis Orcullo for 3,000 jellybeans. More action is expected after the weekly tournament at Stroker's ends (or the players are illuminated).....
Doug
( unfortunately, both of the poolrooms close at 2:00a.m. [to the general public].... New Orleans can spoil a person )

If It Was A 24 hour Spot (and Bar).... I'd Go

is there a spot involved in the game between Dennis and Corey?

There is NO spot involved. The are playing 15 ahead Rotation for the cheese. Corey was up 8-2, but has lost five games in a row....

( I am not present, but getting the info from ringside cellphone )

Fifteen Ahead Rotation? That could last a while, like until 2008. Sure it's not a Race To Fifteen? That would make more sense.

I talked to Dee Adkins last night, he just talked to corey, Dennis would only play rotation, no 9 ball or 10 ball.

This news from another thread in the Main forum by Tony Crosby (I fell asleep):

Corey was still playing Dennis Orcollo last night, They have been going at the 2nd set now for 2 days, Corey changed the game to 15 ahead because he got beat on the first night in a few hours.
The 2nd set is taking way longer, Corey was 8 ahead at one point and Orcollo brought it back to 1. When I left last night he was three ahead.
Richey Orem beat Tyler Edey out of a couple of sets and lost one set to Edwin Montel. They are going to play again today at 2pm and I will be playing Kiamco a set.
So there is plenty going on right now.

The Florida Pro tour is also going to kick of at 10am saturday morning, they are not going to close the field at 64 because of demand.

Corey is playing 15-ball rotation even with the Filipino that Efren doesn't want to mess with?? If it was 9 or 10-ball I'd say OK, but in this game Corey's gonna have to outrun the nuts! You have to say this, though--Corey and his backers have got some heart!

Edit: If he was playing 15 ahead with one of the players from Taiwan I could see him grinding them down. After all, from what I read of Yang's comments after the Yang-Orcollo match-up, it looks the Taiwanese play short matches that allow them to get home in time for supper and the 6 o'clock news. But it's gonna be tough to wear down a battle-hardened Pinoy champion. I'd like to see it happen, though.

I wonder why it is that the "Money Game King" of the Phillipenes won't play Corey 9 ball or 10 ball?

Taiwanese playing rotation? I don't think so. they are pretty much contented playing the game which they have a chance of winning, which is "9-ball".

Probably because Dennis won't agree to "rack your own". ;)

I watched Dennis beat Corey in the 9ball even in this year's DCC (on BCN), and Corey was using the early in the match soft break to perfection...while he was racking his own rack. Apparently, Dennis didn't like the way Corey was racking so Dennis began racking for him. I don't think it was a coincidence that Corey all of sudden stopped using the soft break, and Dennis cleaned up the match from there.

But still, Corey playing even with Dennis in rotation and holding his own really speaks volumes of Corey's rotation skills. An update on the outcome of this match would be greatly appreciated.

That is no surprise, besides Corey being a great player, he had a great teacher as well. ;)

Asians have the highest prevalence of myopia and if Orcullo continues with this one discipline stuff he is going to miss out on some real pool playing and big bucks.

Fifteen Ahead Rotation! OMG! Corey has outmanaged Dennis, who is used to playing Races for the money. The filipinos prefer to play one long Race, like to 21 or 25 or 30 even. They DO NOT like playing ahead sets. And this one is definitely the marathon to end all marathons.

I still like Dennis over Corey playing Ten Ball even. The only way I can see Dennis not playing is over who racks the balls, although that is less of a factor in Ten Ball. Of course, Rotation is an even better game for Dennis, but I will bet any amount he has never played a set this long, or even close.

I've never heard of any set that is potentially as long, except when Jack Cooney played James Walden Eight Ahead One Pocket for 100K at Derby City some years back. That one took almost four full days to finish.
